I am stuck with a problem in my coding that is the use of arrays and hashes in perl modules so any one can give me some link to good sites or examples to get deeper in array and hash in perl.

Thanks,

Hi Chittaranjan,

As has been said, perldoc is always a great first resource. Check out their tutorials as there are plenty of practical coding examples included:

Ok, I dont see why this is so difficult, but it seems like all the solutions I have researched require me to identify each incoming variable which is very undesirable as there are 80+ hashes and 1 array. Basically i have 5 script files that utilise the same 80+ hashes and as it stands now I have the info duplicated in each script file, but as this data will need to be modified from time to time, I would like to have all the variables...

Can someone point me to an example of how to implement and access the kind of object shown below? Most of the examples if found are an object that contains one other object. I need to create an object that contains a hash of sub-objects each sub-object is made up of a number of different objects and an array of an object type. Object1 contains scalars

Hello everyone. I am not fluent in JavaScript, so I might overlook the obvious. But in all other programming languages that I know and that have associative arrays, or hashes, the elements in the hash are alphabetically sorted if the key happens to be alpha numeric. Which I believe makes sense because it allows for fast lookup of a key.

dear friends thanks for the mail sent today i have one more question: 1. since in perl arrays need not be declared, , what is the maximum limit of elements an array could have? 2. in java/ c/ c++, if we declare an array with 5 elements it can have utmost 5 elements, and we could also know what is the memory allocated for an array. how do we know it in perl 3. how many bytes does a scalar , array, list and hashes occupy. though most of the...

Introduction In part one we discussed the default sort function. In part two we will discuss more advanced techniques you can use to sort data. Some of the techniques might introduce unfamiliar methods or syntax to a less experienced perl coder. I will post links to online resources you can read if necessary. Experienced perl coders might find nothing new or useful contained in this article. Short Review In part one I showed you some...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
