Can't use CPANPLUS behind a firewall but CPAN works.

I'm trying to use cpanp behind a firewall and I'm not having any luck.
However, cpan works fine with my proxy configs (I've set http_proxy
and ftp_proxy in my shell environment). I've tried just host:port and
http://host:port with no luck. Has anyone run into this problem?

Thanks,
Brian

Can't say I've seen it before - check some tcpdumps on both your
firewall and the system you're running on cpanp, and see what could be
dropping.

I'm trying to get CPAN or, preferably CPANPLUS working on a dual-CPU FreeBSD 4.8 server (with plenty of free memory), and have ran into a problem that I don't appear to resolve. Either of the utilities experiences a core dump during it's operation: Output from CPAN: --- cpan shell -- CPAN exploration and modules installation (v1.61) ReadLine support enabled

There are a number of possible causes for viewstate errors, but in the past month, I've seen four cases where the Checkpoint "Next Generation" firewall caused this error. Here are the details: This "intelligent" firewall can perform a cross-site scripting attack check when you tell it there's a web server behind it, however, this option appears to remove < and > characters from the form data which breaks viewstate. Known...

I have searched high and low (and even in some places I'd like to forget I ever saw) for the information that will tell me exactly how the Nat2Nat server for UltraVNC works (not just a vague diagram, but the code needed - at least psuedocode - to connect the 2 clients) . (You can see it at http://www.uvnc.com/addons/nat2nat.html.) I get the diagram and all, but how exactly would you get 2 UDP connections to your UDP server to start...

Hi all, I have a situation where a Web Server at an install site does not currently have a publically registered Domain Name associated with the site. This requires that the a user access the site from a remote (outside the LAN) browser using the IP address, as in http://192.35.78.234 . Currently in my code I use the following syntax to obtain the Root Web path which I then append as a prefix to Images and Links in external documents...

I've got a little rudimentary client-server app. One runs a server listening to 'any' ip on a given port and the client attempts to connect to the external ip of my app. I am on a LAN behind a router and, undoubtedly, a firewall. If I make the IP I am trying to connect to 127.0.0.1 everything works fine but as long as I am using the external IP I can't get through and I get an exception which states that the host is actively refusing the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
