Hello everyone,
I am interested in a career in database administration.
I am having 2 yrs academic project work experience in Oracle 8i/9i
SQL/PL SQL programming. I am familiar with performance tuning
slightly. I am also familiar with Oracle 9iAS (Forms, Reports). I have
a few questions.
1. How good is a career as a DBA. (Its future prospects)
2. Which among Oracle DBA and SQL Server DBA is better.
3. For the starters(in terms of DBA...

I have designed a couple databases for my company and a database program for
a soccer club and a very basic contact manager program for a sales rep.
My question is: Is there any kind of career designing/maintaining Access
databases or is that something that I may want to get into SQL or Oracle (or
some other database program). Where can I go to research this further and
possibly take some classes for this type of thing, either online or...

I'd like to detect the shift key when a button is "clicked" in
Firefox/Mozilla. If the button is clicked with the mouse, no problem.
However, if the onclick event is keyboard originated, then my method is
not working. Same thing for SELECT elements.
The simple web page below shows the issue. Click with the mouse while
holding down the shift key, and the Shift key's status registers.
However, use Shift+Alt+o, or either (while the...

Hello Everyone
I am wanting to make a career shift, and need some guidance as to what to be studying.
I am currently a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst. In my work I have needed to write several scripts in VBA for use in MS Access or ArcView. Writing these scripts has shown me that I want to be programming and not working as a GIS Analyst or Database administrator.
What do you suggest I start learning to make such a career...

Hello,
I'm considering a career switch to a more database-related job, but
need help on a few questions and issues. I'm a Computer Engineering
graduate and have always felt most comfortable creating database-
driven applications, preferably for web portals.
1. What are the most viable career options for me out there? What
profile do I fit in?
2. What is the current job market/salary situation for database

A lot of people express disdain when I mention that I like C and find
it easier to use and understand than other languages. I detest the
idea of switching from one language to another and not being able to
learn even 1 properly. I just don't believe in having thousands of
languages mentioned on my resume. I did this in my engineering course
and gained nothign out of it. I don't consider my self proficient in C
either but I'm trying. This...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
