How do I get the next int value for a column before I do an insert in
MY SQL Server 2000? I'm currently using Oracle sequence and doing
something like:
select seq.nextval from dual;
Then I do my insert into 3 different table all using the same uniqueID.
I can't use the @@identity function because my application uses a
connection pool and it's not garanteed that a connection won't be used

Instead of putting the same 12 columns on every table (these 12 columns
contain info about who created the record and when, for example)... It may
be more efficient to make a new table to hold that data.
This new table would act as a universal extension table. Instead of having
FKs back to any particular table, it would contain regular keys that point
back to whatever table::record is its source.

So I am working on this project, where I have an ITEM_PURCHASE table and an WAREHOUSE table I want users to be able to input data into the ITEM_PURCHASE table thru a form and the WAREHOUSE table will automatically populate from certain fields in ITEM_PURCHASE. I found a jquery html table sorting code i have implemented. I am trying to figure out how to edit how many colums there are, but every time i remove code that I think controls how many colums there are, it crashes.
