Hi
I installed a postgres-application (which was developed on debian
woody) on red hat 9 today, using the postgres 7.3 rpms from redhad.
One of my the triggers uses the pg_settings table (more precisely, it
updates that table to change the search_path temporarily). With the
postgres 7.3 (and 7.4 too) installed on my debian development system,
this worked fine. On redhat 9, however, I get an "pg_settings:
permission denied" error when my...

Hi Bob,
I know this reply is a little late for you but I just came accross
your post. You might be interested to know that there is a pretty good
query tool available on download.com called Universal Table Browser.
It is a multi-database enterprise level query tool and I have been
able to open data sets that contain literally millions of records in a
matter of seconds with it.

Hello,
I have a few rather urgent questions that I hope someone can help with (I
need to figure this out prior to a meeting tomorrow.) First, a bit of
background: The company I work for is developing a web-based application,
one part of which involves allowing the user the ability to page through
transaction "history" information.
The _summary_ history table will have the following fields: ServiceName,
Date, User-Ref1, User-Ref2,...

Hi all,
I have to create a query using MS Query, and what I need is beyond my

Hello grp!
i'm using INNODB tables which are using frequently .
if i fire a SELECT query which fetch major part of table it usually
take 10-20 seconds to complete.
in mean time if any UPDATE qry comes for a perticular row which is part
of SELECT qry i want to know that whether UPDATE will wait for
completing SELECT qry or not,
or it simply executing without bothering SELECT qry .

According to our lovely friends at Microsoft they say that after compacting a database the queries should be recompiled by opening each one then closing it. So I compacted the database I was currently working on and it was about 100 megs down to a mere 30 megs. I wrote a routine to cycle through and run each of my queries, I then watched it run lol (crapped out twice Hmmm). Looks like i need an external log to see which one it hangs on. Well...

I am new STL programming.
I have a query regarding vectors. If I am iterating over a vector
using a iterator, but do some operations that modify the size of the
vector. Will the iterator recognize this?
I wrote the following program to test this out.
#include <fstream>
#include <iostream>
#include <string>

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
