Same answer as you got from me in comp.databases. oracle.server

There is no need to cross-post or multi-post. And note that
comp.databases. oracle has been deprecated since 1997 in favour of
comp.databases. oracle.*

This is also posted under the server board where it has at least two
responses. There is no need to post the same question to multiple

Mark ,

If you dont want to answer the question thats fine , but I would
really appreciate that if you could use more sophisticated behavior in
group. You should not have any concern about who post what, thats
something what Google Corporation would take care.

Faheem

This is a newsgroup and has absolutely nothing to do with Google
Corporation. In fact it was established well before Google existed.
Google has nothing to do with this other than kindly providing some
accessibility for people who have no alternative (or simply don't know
better).

Mark is absolutely correct (and relevant) in his comments, especially in
directing the original poster to where the responses can be found.

If you really want to know more, check the group's charter at the ORAFAQ
site.

I've been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on a fresh Mandrake 9.1 O.S for days, but I'm still not able to get it running. I've tried several install instructions that I found on the internet but no luck yet. Here is a short description of what I did so far: 1. I installed the jdk118_v3-glibc-2.1.3.tar in the /usr/local/ dir and made a symbolic link from /usr/local/java to this 2. I installed all the necessary groups and users (oracle,...

I am trying to deploy an asp.net application to my web server. My application uses system.data.oledb to connect to an oracle database. On my development machine I have the oracle client 10g installed and my application works. But on the Web server I get the error below. I believe it is because the Oracle client was not installed on the web server. The web server has two drives, our techs installed the oracle client on one drive and my...

I am not sure which forum I should post this on, but here is the problem. I have a front end web application(VB) on asp,net 1.1 framework. Inside of the code, I have the following lines to connect to the database If gbSQLServer Then 'sConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=c:\w\vgyl\hy.mdb" gsConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=frt4;Initial Catalog=SRMSM;Integrated Security=SSPI" Else

I need to connect to an Oracle database. I've never done it before. I see that with framework 1.1 you had to download ODP.NET from Oracle's site in order for the framework classes to even work. I tried that quickly, but the file is 400 MB, and the the installation asks for all kinds of things in order to install. Now I'm very confused. a) Do you still need ODP.NET with framework 2.0? b) Do you need to download and install other...

Hopefully, I frame this problem/question correctly. I have some code written/updated in visual studio 2003. This code when setup on other machines where I have installed the Oracle 9i client, and the Oracle 9.0 odbc drivers will connect to my oracle database when debugging. I ported the SAME code onto a new machine, installed visual studio 2003, installed IIS, installed the .net frameworks 1 thru 3, but when I am going through the code and...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
