How do I write a function in SQL to convert data from a table to a comma delimited text file and get it imported in excel or word? I already have a function that convers data to an xml. but I need two other procedures one being the comma delimited file and another Fix Record Length File. HELP!

yeah but that code is using pear spread sheet. I need to specifically stick with PL/SQL. I know that CSV(COMMA SEPERATED VALUE) requires some cursors to loop the table and add a character to concatenate each one. I just dont know how to write the code. I am new to PL/SQL.
So you have stated that you must use PL/SQL in your starting post.
When you are using PL/SQL you are probably writing for Oracle DBMS. So what is your thread doing in the MySQL forum?

my book didn't say that the comma operators between function arguments
were not really comma operators (even though it seems obvious to me
that comma operators would serve no purpose between function
