Does checkpoint queue have RBA (Redo Byte Address)??

1 New Member
Hi All,

I have a query with regards to checkpoint queue.

Does checkpoint queue have RBA information, if it does have.. can I know how RBA address, which is the address in a physical file (Redo Log File) be recorded in the checkpoint queue, As you all know checkpoint queue is located in the header of the database buffer cache..

It would be of great help if anyone can share this information..

ya checkpoint queue have RBA information. first of all i wanna tell u that there is no header in database buffer cache. the checkpoint queue is located in db buffer cache itself and RBA consist of data block address( file number and block number) and location in the redolog file where that datablock is first dirtied.RBA also consist of the location in redolog file where that datablock is last dirtied. when checkpointing occurs this RBA of the oldest dirtied in the checkpoint queue is recorded in the control file for recovery purpose.

Has anyone written a Queue.Queue replacement that avoids busy-waiting? It doesn't matter if it uses os-specific APIs (eg WaitForMultipleObjects). I did some googling around and haven't found anything so far. Because I know someone will ask: no, the busy-waiting hasn't been a problem in my app. I'm just interested in reading the code. p

I wrote a simple, but proprietary queue class that efficiently enqueues and dequeues arbitrary length byte arrays. I would like to replace it with an STL container if the performance overhead is not too high. Currently, I am thinking of replacing it like shown below, but it is not efficient due to repeated function calls to "push". Can...

I read recently that: "if a before-image was made before an interruption in database processing, you use the before-image dump & simply begin processing again from just before the last transaction. Any checkpoints are irrelevant." I'm not a dba here, so bear with me... What I don't understand is, why are checkpoints irrelevant when you did...

Hi numeric processing fans. I'm pleased to report that you can now have convenient checkpoint/restart, at least if you are running fedora linux. Example: python -i blcr_mod.py <<< this will start python, then checkpoint it c_int(2) (ignore this debug) cr_restart checkpoint.nbecker1.23768 <<< this will restart
