View Web Sites Hosting Internally

233 New Member
This should be something simple, but if I have a web server that I am hosting a website with with the domain name of www.websitesrfu n.com, I cannot access the sites internally using that domain, instead I have to use the private address of the web server. If I wanted to go to be able to go to www.websiterfun .com internally, do I have to make some sort of DNS entry that points www.websiterfun .com to the internal ip address of the web server. Our DNS runs on Server Win2k, how would I go out about making this setting.

I'm looking for some guidance and advice on domain registering and hosting services. Something like a Consumer Reports rating of such services would be great. My father has asked for my help to set up a simple website for his business. Nothing fancy; basically the Web equivalent of a business card (location, hours of operation, contact info). He would also like to buy/register half a dozen (similar-sounding) domains. (They are...

Here's an odd one, I'm currently developing a site for internal usage, to get around their public website, I set the internal server to port 8080 (I publish my .net from my office externally). There is no problem at all accessing the site externally, but it is almost impossible to access internally. I checked to make sure I have no references in the site to the external publishing address. This may be a very simple problem, but one I...

Hi all; This seems at least somewhat on-topic here, so at the risk of seeming shamelessly self-promoting, I figured I would ask. I am the main developer of an open source CRM suite (http://hermesweb.sourceforge.net). We are in the beta-testing of our 0.3.0 release which will include experimental support for shared hosting environments. I would be interested in helping any interested parties beta test the software. Any feedback...

Hello all, Consider that you have an ASP.NET application you have deployed as www.somesite.com. If I would like to create an intranet site with the same code (say http://intranetsite/ for use within the company firewall) , I could just point another IIS web site to the same code location, without having to re-deploy. I have tried this, and it works fine. However, I would like to know if anyone has run into issues in this scenario....

They say it's easier, but has anyone tried maintaining an ASP.NET site without the source code of the dlls? This was not a problem with classic ASP, all the code was almost always just in text files, easily viewable and most importantly readily AVAILABLE on the site, to anyone access to the site's folder. But just imagine, bunch of companies out there, managed by non-technical people, who have had a bunch of outside

Hello list, our team is going to rewrite our existing web-site, which has a lot of dynamic content and was quickly prototyped some time ago. Today, as we get better idea of what we need, we're going to re-write everything from scratch. Python is an obvious candidate for our team: everybody knows it, everybody likes it, it has *real* objects, nice clean syntax etc.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
