Accessing Sites Internally vs. Externally

Here's an odd one, I'm currently developing a site for internal usage, to get
around their public website, I set the internal server to port 8080 (I
publish my .net from my office externally). There is no problem at all
accessing the site externally, but it is almost impossible to access
internally. I checked to make sure I have no references in the site to the
external publishing address. This may be a very simple problem, but one I
have yet to find an answer to. Thanks in advance!

And the error you see is ? What do you mean by "almost impossible" ? Does it
have the expected IP address ?

You could try also an IIS group. Looks more like a site or network
configuration problem.

"Almost Impossible" = any page where I have a decent amount of .net code
takes up to 10 minutes to load, if at all (It loads about 15% of the time).
Pages not containing .net code load without error, and pages accessed
externally load without error.

I've checked all of the network settings, accessed it internally via 1)
Netbios Machine Name; 2) Raw IP Address and 3) the External name with the
same results.

On company in our group is looking at getting their rather basic website redeveloped externally. In typical fashion, they have declared that this project it 'marketing-led' rather than 'IT-led', which basically means they I would be awkward and would insist that things are done properly, so they are bypassing us... We do have some input in the project, but my colleagues and I are hoping to hold a veto over the selection of a supplier...

Hello all, Consider that you have an ASP.NET application you have deployed as www.somesite.com. If I would like to create an intranet site with the same code (say http://intranetsite/ for use within the company firewall) , I could just point another IIS web site to the same code location, without having to re-deploy. I have tried this, and it works fine. However, I would like to know if anyone has run into issues in this scenario....

I have been wondering this for a while now. Suppose I have a class that contains some private member variables. How should I access the variables throughout the class? Should I use properties that expose the variables or is it OK to just access the variables directly? Keep in mind that I am talking about accessing the variables from within the class that they are defined. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I have made my installation of Team Foundation Server available to me over the internet. However, I am unable to connect to the dratted thing. I have exposed what I believe to be appropriate ports to enable connectivity. If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears. The log files are not reporting any issues: Series of events

Hi. In VB.NET, is it possible to determine whether an ASP.NET is being accessed internally (within the same domain hosting the application) or externally (across the internet)? I've looked at using the HttpRequest.ServerVariables Property, but it doesn't look like it's NameValueCollection contains any items which would identify whether or not a program is being accessed internally/externally. Basically I need to apply certain logic...

I have an application with a page that has a web user control When I call that page that has this user control, locally (http:// localhost/ApplicationX/default.aspx) and also externally ie (http:// <webserver>/ApplicationX/default.aspx), the display is all different. For example, a text box shows with border on one and textbox shows as label in the other. I am suspecting that it might be CSS issue. I checked the CSS file and everything...

This should be something simple, but if I have a web server that I am hosting a website with with the domain name of www.websitesrfun.com, I cannot access the sites internally using that domain, instead I have to use the private address of the web server. If I wanted to go to be able to go to www.websiterfun.com internally, do I have to make some sort of DNS entry that points www.websiterfun.com to the internal ip address of the web server. ...

Hi guys and girls. I can't seem to figure this one out. Here is my setup: Speedtouch 536 DSL Modem, Nexxt 4 Port Wireless Router, CNET CIC 920W Wireless IP Camera. The camera is set up in wireless mode and any computer on the wireless or local area network can see the camera and access the video. The setup went perfect for the internal network. But I cannot for the life of me see why the configurations I have set to see the camera...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
