TCP packets with bad Checksums

Useing a packet sniffer I have been watching some tcpip traffic between my computer and my embedded device I am developing on (the embeded device runs wince 5.0) and I have been noticing that a LOT (like %40) of the packets leaving the embeded device are showing up as having a bad checksum and having to be re-sent.
I was just wondering if that is normal, like between two full-fledged NIC cards, is there that high of a % of bad checksums?
It does it's job well, I never get malformed data in my programs, it just seems like the TCPIP stack is having to work overtime to keep things running smooth.

Am I just being paranoid here, or should I look into this further?

I have the weirdest problem with an Access 97 database... The application comprises the usual front-back split database. It's built around Access 97 and had been running without serious problems for around seven years. The back-ends are replicated across two servers (althugh I don't think this is a replication problem). Around two weeks ago users suddenly started to complain about slow performance. One particular operation that used...

I am building a web based system using ASP.NET and VB.NET which has to interact with a web service which uses XML WDDX packets. I have been given the XML Packet Specification by the Web Service Provider but can't work out the best way to interact with the WDDX packets. Basically the way the Web Service works is that you send a WDDX formatted Request packet to the given URL, their

I've seen a lot of example code on doing MD5 checksums, all of which seems to take in chunk by chunk of data until EOF to calculate the MD5 checksum, this method seems slow, or I'm not using an optimized chunk (8192 bytes)... What is the fastest possible way to do MD5 checksums? I'm using System.Security namespace to do it all, just wondering what the fastest way is, as I'm hashing 10,000+ files. -L

Hi There, I have a basic TCP client and TCP server in C++. The TCP client connects to the server, and after a setup phase starts to transmit a file to the TCP server using multiple packets (fixed amount of bytes, except for the last packet). This is accomplished by using a for loop and the "int send(socket, buffer, bufferlength, 0)" function. When I read the packets using "int recv(socket, buffer, 1500, 0)" the number returned by...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
