Not recognizing USB device

I have been hotsyncing my palm pilot through a USB cable for several years,
and all of a sudden my computer no longer notices when I plug the cable in.
Because of this, the palm will not sync. I have tried to re-install Palm
software but that is not the problem. When I plug a flash drive into the USB
slot it works, but the devices will not. I have tried to trouble shoot
online but I have not been able to find much.

This is a bummer deal for you. If you posted this to a Windows newgroup, or
a Palm newsgroup, you could probably get some help. This is a .Net
Programming newsgroup.

Although it does make one wonder if you tried a different USB cable.
