How to get Session Start on every page load?

1 New Member
Working in Visual Studio 2010 and ASP 4.0. Getting a Session Start on every page load and all session data is lost. Switched to cookies and same thing all data is lost when switching from page to page. Session time out is set to several minutes so should not be getting a session start on every page load. I am even getting application start and end on page loads. From what I have read this is a problem after ASP 2.0 but there must be a fix to this otherwise nobody can deal with log on issues. Have switched to cookies and the problem persists.

If you make changes to the backend code (App_Data) it resets all the sessions.
Have you used a packet watcher to see the transaction between your browser and the server? Your browser could be configured to reject everything.

when i first load index.php with arguments ie: "index.php?page=x", the $_SERVERvalue is null. I then get the session id appended to each link. If i refresh the page, I get the $_SERVER I want, but if i click a link $_SERVER returns the value I want and the session id. Any ideas as to how I can get the $_SERVER to return the arguments on first page load?

I've got a PHP system working on a development server (Windows 2000/IIS5/PHP 4.3.3) but it doesn't seem to be working quite right on the testing server (same except PHP 4.2.3). I upgraded the PHP on the testing server but that didn't seem to make any difference. One difference I noticed is that on the dev server, the session cookie is modified on EVERY page load. On the testing server the cookie gets created alright but it doesn't seem...

I have a page that receives a session variable from the default.aspx. On Page load, the code in Page load gets executed twice. So far, no problem. It sets the session variable each time, correctly. However, when I click on a menu item in that page, it then executes the same page load twice, before transferring control (via a response.redirect) to the new page. On the first pass through the page load of the menu page, the session...

Hi, all! Using ASP.Net (2.0 framework) with VB.Net code-behind... Is there any way to execute a particular piece of code on each and every page load in a website, without specifically putting that same code (or user control) on each and every page? Some languages have a config file (like application.cfm for Cold Fusion) that loads on every page where one can run basic code on each page load, without adding code to each page. Is there...

Hey All! I recently bought a new web server and am in the process of migrating all of our websites over. We're going from Windows 2000 IIS 5.0 to Windows 2003 IIS 6.0. I've been able to get everything to work correctly except for the SessionID's. For some reason I'm getting a new SessionID on EVERY single page that I visit! Which makes it quite difficult to login and add items to your cart...hehe. Everything is running ASP, there...

Hello, I am trying to get the value of the radiobuttonlist. The problem is that I need it to be unselected at every page load. The radiobuttonlist is set to autopostback (true). My idea is simple. When I select a value, I get it, insert something into the database with that value and the page loads again with different data. Imagine a questionnaire and every page load a random question would be load on screen and when the user clicks...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
