WebRequest WebService and Out Parameter

1 New Member
I have started to play with connecting to a .Net web service that I created. I wanted to figure out how to dynamicaly connect to it without creating a web reference to it. I have so far been able to connect to it and execute a method with the following signature,...

[WebMethod]
public string Execute(string command)

What I want to do now is call a method with the following signature,..

[WebMethod]
public string Execute(string command, out string commandResult)

but everytime I run through the following code,...

httpRequest.Get RequestStream() .Write(requestD ata, 0, requestData.Len gth);
httpResponse = (HttpWebRespons e)httpRequest.G etResponse();

where requestData is,...

"command=pi ng"

I get the following execption from the second line,...

The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

What do I have to do to use an out parameter with WebRequest and and WebResponce?

I am working on a WebRequest accessing the US Postal Service WebTools test API. This service uses a DLL file (ShippingAPITest.dll) with a query string which includes XML. The web service accepts the query string with no url encoding. I must pass the <> characters as they are in the query string. If these characters are url encoded the service rejects the request. This API Url is http://testing.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPITest.dll

Hi! I'm trying to call a Java WebService out of a .net Client. There are two Methods, one Method requires one Parameter of type Parameter, the other Method requires one Parameter of type Parameter. I can call the first Method without Problems, the Parameter can be deserialized by the WebService. But if I want to call the second Method and give it an Array of Parameters, then the following exception is thrown by the WebService:...

Is there a known issue about System.Net.Webrequest interfering with Request.Querystring? My web application pulls a record ID from a URL, then uses that record ID to pull information a database. I then use that pulled information to get information from a webservice with System.Net.Webrequest and System.Net.Webresponse. Each one works independently, but when I try to use them both in the same site (not even in the same class--the...

Hi, We recently converted a 1.1 project to 2.0 and this included a webservice which accepted XML for one of the parameters. Since converting to 2.0 I am getting the following message: --- A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (myparam="<root><blah...."). --- The fix used for ASPX pages is to include the @Page directive with

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
