Hi,
If I don't know that my (or any) windows 2k regional setting for the
decimal symbol is the dot (".") and I want to do this:
1- Dim dblOutput As Double
2- Dim strInput As String
3- strInput = "123,8"
4- dblOutput = Convert.ToDouble(strInput)

Hi there,
I'm having a weird situation when converting strings to double.
Normally, the following code would work right?
double MyDouble = double.Parse("20.50"); // Error at runtime
Well, it gives me an error at run time, telling me that the format of
the input string is incorrect. Then, if i try with a comma instead of
a dot, it works fine.

Hi everyone,
A basic one here, I think. I haven't found the pattern yet, but
sometimes when I cast a variable to another type using the "C" style cast
operator the compiler refuses to play along. It says it's an invalid cast.
However, if I use the Convert.ToInt32() method (for example) things will
work. At least, that's how it appears to me.
Could someone explain when to use old-style parenthesized casts vs. the
Convert() methods?

Hi,
I'm writing a program using VB.NET that needs to communicate with a DOS
Pascal program than cannot be modified. The communication channel is through
some file databases, and I have a huge problem writing VB Double values to
the file so as the Pascal program can read them as Pascal Real values.
I've managed to find the algorithm to read the Pascal Real format and
convert it to a VB Double, but I cannot figure out the opposite...
