Creating Directory on a Different Server

2 New Member
Hi All,

I was wondering if there is a way to create a folder on a seperate server to the one that the web application is using. I have had a look around for a solution but have been unable to find one.

Basically, we have two servers, one which contains the website and one which contains the data. We need to create a folder on the data server when the user clicks a button on the website server.

I am familiar with using Directory.Creat eDirectory(fold erPath); as this is what I have been using through testing on my local machine, it works fine when creating folders on the c:. I was hoping that this could be changed to create the folder on a test server but get the error:

Could not find a part of the path 'F:\.

I have mapped the test server to this drive.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

I am trying to dynamically create directories in my ASP.NET application (I am using Server.MapPath("/")+"test" as the folder) and I am getting a DirectoryNotFoundException saying "Could not find a part of the path "D:\". My site is hosted on a public ISP that for obvious security reasons does not allow my read access above my wwwroot folder which seems to be a problem when trying to create directories... Is there any way to solve this?

Hello, I am using c# and running a site that is on a shared host. The code in question is supposed to create a new directory that is coming out of a text box. It works fine on my computer, but I get the following stack trace: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path "D:\". at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError

I have a number of web sites on my 2003 server, each of the independent sites (i.e., not subdirectories of the localhost site). The way I have always set these up in the past is: 1. Create a directory "MySiteName" and a subdirectory "Site". 2. Share the "Site" subdirectory is "MySiteNameSite$", and give the local administrators group full access to the share. (The login I run under is a member of that group.)

I am having a problem saving an image with the same name it originally had. I have two similar versions of my code, one in which I close the FileStream used to open the original image before saving, the other in which I close the FileStream afterwards, although both return the same error. Here are the two versions of the code and the errors they each return (NOTE: I rebooted immediately before running each of these versions so that I knew they...

When a user registers with my site, I create a separate folder for them (for uploading photos, etc). The code for this has been working fine for 1 year, but over the past 2 weeks it has been falling down on the 'CreateDirectory' function. The error I'm getting is: "Could not find a part of the path "E:\"."

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
