Are exe/dll file copies linked to original location?

Using Win2003 sp1 and Win2003 sp2 (both ent editions), if I file copy an exe
or dll (location A) during software development to location B, if I rebuild
the exe/dll in location A, the copy that I put in location B seems to be
automatically updated?! Nice feature but what is it and how do I turn it off.
It's like a 'linked file'...and I wonder if it's related to my periodic
'Assembly not found' errors. They just come and go for no apparant reason...

Hi, I know how inheritance works. But do i have to put all the inherited class files in the same directory as the class file which inherits is in?? (VB.NET) When i have a baseclass which i want to use in different solutions, then i add the class to a solution. The IDE copies the file to the other solution folder and i have 2 copies of the same class file.

I am trying to <include> some text into an XML documentation topic, but that text is stored in a file that is in a different directory than the "current" XML file. Using a relative path does not appear to work, because the base being used is the Common7\IDE directory, not my original source directory. Here is the situation: MyApp directory contains the file Form1.cs, Form1.xml, and Generic.xml. There is also a subdirectory called...

Hello I'm trying to get a single line removed from a text file using a search pattern (pretty simple: if line contains "NODE1") -> remove line). To achieve this I's like to operate with only the original file and no temp file since the file is 1. on a network resource 2. pretty big 3. accessed by plenty of clients. Copying the file or reading everything into an array and then writing it back using the StreamWriter would lock the file...

Can anyone guide me through changing the location of my linked tables through the Linked Table Manager? (MS-Access 2000) Here's what I've done: I'm in the front-end application on a split database of course. I open the Linked Table Manager, Select all Tables, and check "Always Prompt for new location. This brings up a window which displayed the possible sources which starts out as My Documents. I chose Network Places and that brought...

I am using an XmlDocument to save some data. Periodically I add new data and save the XmlDocument to a file: Me.fXmlDoc.Save(Me.fFilename) When I have added all the data I need, I want to move the file to a new location which I do by saving the file to the new location, and then deleting the old one: Me.fXmlDoc.Save(newFilePath)

Hello I currently Link the FE/BE using the LinkTables Option and the Linked Table Manager. Any time I need to move the BE to another location, I have to go through this process over again. I need the flexibility of being able to move the BE data to wherever I want, without manually going through this process. I just want to change the Path/Filename that I keep in a FE Table. I want to be able to place a Path/Filename in a FE Table...

I have a little Windows application written in C# with a SQLite back- end. I'm using the System.Data.SQLite provider. One of the features the application provides is a database back-up, which just basically copies the S3DB file to a specified location. See the code below: //------------------------------------------------ System.IO.File.Copy(srcPath, destPath, true); //------------------------------------------------

I have a DTS package that gathers data from some tables, opens Excel, creates a workbook, adds a worksheet, inserts the data into this worksheet and then saves the workbook to a specified location. I added a step that copies the workbook to an additional location. One problem, the file copies, but the added worksheet does not. I created a test DTS that simply copies the file, and the new worksheet is copied over. What step am I missing in my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
