How can i remove the hdr info from excel upload when using the oledb4 provider?

I'm using the Jet provider to connect to an excel spreadsheet to load into a dataset. the problem is when i use the hdr=no extended property, the provider auto adds f1, f2, f3... as new first row. you can't even delete the row from the dataset, which shows row 0 as first populated row from excel results.

if i say hdr = yes, and the worksheet has blank values in first row of cells, i get the f (n) in that column. so if column 1 was blank but column 2 had a value for first row, column 1 would be populated with f1.

how can i prevent the f's from being populated in the results even if there are blank columns in the first row, or better yet, how can i eliminate the top row of f's if hdr=no???
