Cannot reference a serverside variable on the client page

17 New Member
Hi,
I write
a = <%=Environ("tem p")%> --errror on this line
b = a & ".txt"
Line 1 gives me the path of temp but i cannot append anything to it because it gives it without "" .How do i make Environ return me the name of the file with double quotes along with it.
Can anybody help me with this.
Thankyou.

You are looking at a javascript section right?

Javascript uses the + to concatinate, not silly VB connotation :-)

I'm new to ASP, and need to do something that should be straightforward. I want to access the database in my vbscript function on the serverside, when someone clicks a button on the cient side. Originally in my local environment it worked, as I was using createobject for adodb (access database) in the docalc function. However, on the webserver apparently I need to use server.createobject, and that means running the function in the...

Hi, I have the following code where there is some client side VBScript that does something and needs to pass a variable back to the ASP.NET page. When the page is updated through a postback, the information is lost. What am I doing wrong? After obtaining the variable, I assign it back to a Label text field on the form, it shows up on the web page no problem.

Hi folks, I would be interested to hear peoples views on whether or not 'pass by reference' is allowed when using a Web Service method. The thing that troubles me about pass-by-reference into a WebService is that essentially we are passing an address of an object which resides on the 'local machine' i.e. a local machine object address. Surely when the WebService method is called and run 'on the server', the reference type will be...

Many methods return objects when they are called. With Excel these objects are placed in memory and must be destroyed via ReleaseComObject as you have done with your NAR method, but the line: objExcel.Workbooks.Open(Page.MapPath("reports\BLCost.xls")) could be the culprit since the Open method returns a reference to a Workbook object that you haven't assigned a variable to. Since you have no variable to explicitly use to destroy the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
