C# : Getting data from a Word document table

1 New Member
I'm completely new to the concept of working with Office documents on C#, but I found this code on a different site and am using it as follows:

object oMissing = System.Reflecti on.Missing.Valu e;
object oEndOfDoc = "\\endofdoc "; /* \endofdoc is a predefined bookmark */
object oPath = "path goes here";

//Start Word and create a new document.
Word._Applicati on oWord;
Word._Document oDoc;

oWord = new Word.Applicatio n();
oWord.Visible = false;

oDoc = oWord.Documents .Open(ref oPath, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing,
ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing,
ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing, ref oMissing);

At this point, I can apparently access what's inside the document by calling it from the oDoc variable. Is there a way I can do this without actually opening up the document?

EDIT: Just read this other topic: http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread234822.html

Is copying/pasting the only way to get the information out of Word and onto another application?

I'm trying to display a word document inside a web page, but everytime I do I get this error: Error Type: Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A0046) Permission denied: 'CreateObject' Does anybody know the correct way to do this? I don't want to link to a document, but rather display a word file inside the asp page.

Please forgive the simplicy of this question. I have the following code which attempts to determine the color of some text and set other text to match that color. It works fine in Firefox, but does nothing in IE. I'd be greatful for any assistance. Also, if I will have problems the code on Opera or Safari, I'd appreciate any pointers--I don't have a Mac to test Safari. THanks very much, Michael

Hello, I am trying to create a procedure to export my Access data to a word template. I would like to export data from two tables to a word file at the same time. My two tables are named CASES AND CLIENTS. The word (it is a template) is named MASTER To store data, I have created two forms named CASES and MASTER. Since both forms have a lot of fields, I have added the form CLIENTS as a SubForm on the form CASES.

I have been given an Access Database which contains a table that has an OLE object field that contains a Word document. That table contains hundreds of records. I would like to find out how I can write a VB script, to be executed either within Access or executed at the CMD prompt, which will loop through all the records and open the document object and save it to a Word document that I can access from Windows Explorer. An additional info...

I have a function in a Microsoft Access module (below) which creates a Word XP Mailmerge document, drawing the data from Access XP. I can get the connection to work fine. However, when I create the form letters, the data from certain merge fields is missing. When I view the data in the MailMerge Recipients dialog box, the data is not there either - the columns are there, but the records have blanks where the data in those columns should...

I have a table of data in Access 2002 which is used as the source table for a mail merge document using Word 2002 on my clients PC. The data is transferred OK but I've noticed that any dates which fall between 1stday/anymonth/any year and 12thday/anymonth/any year are rearranged in the wrong format. For example 4th July 2005 from the database would be displayed as 07/05/2005 in the merged document. In addition blank date fields from the...

Hi, I am trying to extract the values from a few specific fields in a word document from VB. I have now opened the doc and can loop through all the paragraphs...but none of the tables are listed. Is there any way of getting the value from, say, the 3rd table, 2nd row, 1st column. Any help on this is appreciated - I haven't got the budget for a 3rd party

I'm trying to use the Mergit() function from the MS Knowledge base article to merge data from a query or table in my Access 2000 mdb into an existing word merge document. Every time it runs it brings up the dialog "Confirm Data Source", and asks if I want to use OLE, DDE, or ODBC. If I say ODBC, it then asks me for the table name. If I do all that, the merge works correctly, but I don't want users to have to do all that. I thought the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
