Search For function does not seem to work

I've having trouble searching within the
microsoft.publi c.dotnet.framew ork.microframew ork
newsgroup. In the Search For: box, I enter "porting" (no quotes), select
the newsgroup as listed above, and click Go.
The screen repaints with no postings found - but I have clearly seen the
word "porting" in the subject of one of the messages.

Is this feature "broken"?

The search feature is specific to the news reader that you are using,
the newsgroup itself doesn't support searching. You should ask in a
newsgroup or forum that is dedicated to the news reader you are using.

Thanks, I'll submit the question to the Internet Explorer discussion group.
It seems odd that a MS newsreader would be having trouble searching it's own
newsgroup...

here is a search tool SP I wrote. How many times have you wanted to search all your Stored procs or views (in a database) for a keyword but couldn't!? Well now you can! THis can makes life a lot easier for developers. Would you email me and let me know which part of the world my code is running in?

I'm trying to execute a full-text query from a vb.net web application. The problem I have is that in SQL Server, the syntax for a full-text search is SELECT * FROM table WHERE CONTAINS( *, ' "searchstring" ') For whatever reason, VB won't run that search string unless I eliminate

hey all, Ok, a related question to my previous one on data dumpers for postscript. In the process of putting a form together, I'm using a lot of placeholder variables that I really don't care about in the submitted action. I'd therefore like to get rid of them by doing something like:

Trying to use the 'search' in the docs section of PostgreSQL.org is extremely SLOW. Considering this is a website for a database and databases are supposed to be good for indexing content, I'd expect a much faster performance. I submitted my search over two minutes ago. I just finished this email to the list. The results have still not come back. I only searched for: SECURITY INVOKER

Hi, Does anybody know what the fastest way is to "search for a value in a singly-linked list from its tail" as oposed to its head? I am talking about a non-circular singly-linked list, i.e., head and tail are not connected. Of course, recursive function aproach to traverse the list is one way. But, depending upon the list size, it could overrun the stack pretty fast.

Hi all, I need to write a function to search and replace part of a char* passed in to the function. I came up with the following: char* search_and_replace(char* source,char search,char* replace){ char* result; size_t l = strlen(source), r = strlen(replace), i; int number_of_replaces = 0; for(i = 0; i < l; i++){ if(source == search)

Can you do a search for more that one string in another string? Something like: someString.IndexOf("something1","something2","something3",0) or would you have to do something like: if ((someString.IndexOf("something1",0) >= 0) || ((someString.IndexOf("something2",0) >= 0) ||

Hi, I have not implimented a search feature yet for a web site yet and wanted to get some advice. Most of the search tips I have seen so far only deal with searching html files or other web files. I don't need this type of search. All I need to do is search the products tables (description and Name fields) and return the results. Now, I could do a query like: Select * from products where description like @SearchWord But I'm not sure if...

Hi guys, I wrote a script that works *almost* perfectly, and this lack of perfection simply puzzles me. I simply cannot point the whys, so any help on it will be appreciated. Hi Everyone, I'm currently trying to follow an example I found in a book a while ago to try to create a spotlight (mac-like) search that filters results as one types. The script that I have works perfectly in Firefox, but does not seem to work successfully in Internet Explorer (I'm using version 7). Here is the Javascript code I am currently using: window.onload = initAll; var xhr = false; var statesArray = new Array();

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
