Hi,
I use the Visual C++ .NET 2003 Standard Edition which doesn't include an
optimizing compiler. But Microsoft released the VC++ 2003 Toolkit
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/vctoolkit2003/) which provides an
optimizing compiler. Is it possible to replace the original "Standard"
compiler with this one ?
How could I do this ?

I'd installed VC++ Express 2005 beta 2 but I couldn't create new
projects from templates or when I opened an existing solution, I
couldn' build it: 'exe not found!'
The same happened whith VC++.NET 2003 (a friend's).
Is it a framework problem? (I've got the 1.1)

I have downloaded & installed both VC++ express and the platform SDK.
Now I want to compile some win32 source code but it doesn't, it don't find
the headers.
Now I guess I could add the PlatformSDK's lib & include directories in my
project.
But the problem is, unfortunately everything is intsalled on the F: drive
and I would like to share...

it's only 2 hours I'm using it and I'm already mad from it's unproductivity
feature.
- my most hated feature being: you can't save your file (because it's used
by VC# express).
Very typicall after a failed build
there are minor ones as well kind of, such as:
- take 20 seconds to save a file.
=> which gives: before compiling spend 10...

I am working with a program which was developed using VC++ 6.0 few years ago.
Now I am modifying par of the code and compile it using VC++ 2003 .net. In
the beginning I had a lot of problems with the fstream file reading, which I
solved by inserting the old fstream.h file in the project. However, when I
tried to compile the program it gave...

I'm getting an assertion fire from a list iterator being checked
against NULL. This did not occur in VC++ 2003 (v7.1). Are there
changes that have been made to the STL between these versions that I
should know about? Any resources I should check into?
thanks,
Jason

Gang,
I am self taught in C and fairly proficient for last 20 years. Don't
program much, just little utilities for work. Been wanting to create
windows forms and found MS VC++ Express. Installed it, bought book, etc.
Book doesn't cover files. From other sources I have the following:
#pragma once
#include <string>
#include <fstream>

What is the difference between the regular VC++ edition and the VC++ express
edition? If there is not too much difference in functionality, why the
express edition
is free?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
