Call WebService over https via proxy...

10 New Member
Hi all,

I have written an ASP.Net 2.0 Web Project Application, which is consuming a Web Service of a company. The first method will be called over https, because its the authentificatio n method. All other methods are called over http.

On my local computer, where I have direct access to the internet, everything is working fine. But after I have published the application to the server, which is in DMZ, I had problems. First I noticed, that I can't even reach www.google.com from the browser on that computer. So I spoke with my system admin, and he has configured a proxy, where I can get out to the net over port 8080 instead of 80.

I have to enter the proxy settings in the browser and am able to reach websites from the browser.

But now, my application can reach the WebService, because it doesn't know, that it have to go outside using port 8080, instead of 80. After googling a bit I found out. I had to create a WebProxy instance and pass it to the web service. Here is the code, how I am creating that object:

WebProxy proxy = new WebProxy("http://192.168.150.1:8 080/", true);

With this code, I can reach all http methods of the web service. So my question is how I would use the WebProxy object for https?

Hi all. Some time ago (years) I had a script on Python 2.2 that would retieve a HTTPS web site. I used python22-win32-ssl.zip to handle the SSL aspect and it worked wonderfully. I am revisiting the project and need to update it to Python 2.4.1. python22-win32-ssl.zip isn't compatable (duh) and I can't find a newer version. I have had a search and can't find anything to point me in the right direction. Can someone please help?

Hi, I'm trying to call a webservice asynchronous and works. But if I enter a wrong proxy webservice.Proxy = new WebProxy("b"); I won't get a callback with an async call like webservice.addEntryAsync(entry, null); (of cource registered previously with webservice.addTrackerEntryCompleted += ).

Hi Together, I tried to build a webservice proxy using a wsdl, generated in the sun/java world. I used the .Net 2003 Version, choosing there VC++. The steps I did: 1. Visual C++ Projekte / "Konsoleanwendung (.Net)" 2. Projekt / Webverweis hinzufügen / lokal I chose the wsdl, which were generated before within a WSAD environment (style: RPC encoded). For me the wsdl looks like ok:

Hi and sorry for the heavy crossposting (fu2 mpdf)! As you might have gotten out of the subject line, my application tries to consume a webservice that's being connected to via https. This works fine when I use a windows forms app. Trying the same from within an asp.net app fails. As far as I can tell this is due to the lack of an installed client certificate for the ASPNET windows user account. The certificate I use is available as...

I am using a webservice client that was created from a WSDL file in .Net 1.1. The client ALWAYS works the first time I call it. The second call returns one of two exceptions. It either returns the error: A) The connection has been closed on a receive : Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I have a vb.net web service. I am trying to call another webservice that is secured through certificate. I have received the certificate file and I am trying to call the service using the file. I am having some challenges such as: 1. I can not add a web reference to the secure service. Error: The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request. 2. to overcome this, I asked for a proxy class. I received the dll and I added it as a...

Hi, I'd like to my WCF webservice to work both on SSL and without. Unfortunately searching has led to dead ends, references to changes that only work on the old previous beta versions and I admit I am rather confused and frustrated. That being said, I'd like some direction in how exactly I'm supposed to accomplish this. Thanks very much, JK

Hello, I am receiving this error when trying to instantiate a webservice component. I have 2 development machines, both are XP sp2 with VS 2008 installed. On one machine, the code works fine. On the other machine I get the error upon instantiating the service client. I add the reference by choosing Add Service Reference from the project menu, and pointing to the remote wsdl file. I can't seem to find what the difference between the two...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
