Call a webservice async - problem with proxy

I'm trying to call a webservice asynchronous and works.
But if I enter a wrong proxy
webservice.Prox y = new WebProxy("b");
I won't get a callback with an async call like
webservice.addE ntryAsync(entry , null);
(of cource registered previously with
webservice.addT rackerEntryComp leted += [..]).

If I call it normally I get instantly the WebException "The remote name
could not be resolved: 'b'"

Where is this Exception if I call the webservice async?

I want to be able to cancel an async call to a VB.Net web service and for the web service to know it has been cancelled so that it can abort gracefully. I have used the Begin.... and End... methods of the proxy class to successfully run the web service asynchronously. And I used the Abort() method of the IAsyncResult return by the Begin... method to abort the web service request. This aborts the client but does not abort the web service...

I'm making a call to a webservice from my ASP.NET page. The web application has anonymous access turned off and Integrated Windows auth turned on. The web.config has <identity impersonate=true>. I set the credentials of the web service proxy to the DefaultCredentials. Right before I make the call, I print out the WindowsIdentity, and it is showing the right identity. So I know the web application is authenticating properly. However,...

I have a distributed system that processes documents. There currently is an Async Webservice in place and this works fine. My customer is requesting a Sync Webservice call. I am trying to determine the best way to implement this. I thought I would have the Sync call to enter a sleep state and upon waking check a ArrayList that was populated at the completion of the processing. If there is a doc then return it, otherwise sleep.

Hi, I'm new to WebServices, and I'm doing some tests (with a small VB.NET-application) to know the performance-difference between a WebService and the 'normal'-way of getting data (just connecting directly with a SqlDataAdapter to the SQL Server). The WebMethod simply gives a DataSet back, and does exactly the same actions as the normal-Method does. The difference are enormous in my opinion: 1 record:

Hi (Framework 1.1, Webservice platform Windows 2003 Server) I have a little windows service which is supposed to call one or more webservices at regular intervals. Recently this service has started to fail more and more often until now, when it won't run at all. I've managed to locate the problem, and it seems that when it makes an asyncronous webservice call, it doesn't get any notification when the

Hello to all! I have a fairly simple webservice running in asp.net ajax under c# (vs 2008). I built the service and it runs just dandy when i test it by itself in visual studio. However, to make it work, i had to break up the webmethod into the BeginXXX, EndXXX model as per http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480516.aspx But now, i can no longer call this method from javascript (since to

Hi I am running asp.net ajax (vs 2008) I have the following webservice listed below. However, i have no idea how to call this from javascript. Originally, before i started using the BeginXXX and EndXXX as per http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480516.aspx I could easily call the webmethod via in this case "WebService_speech.GenerateSpeechDataForText" but now im not sure how to call it.

Hello, I am receiving this error when trying to instantiate a webservice component. I have 2 development machines, both are XP sp2 with VS 2008 installed. On one machine, the code works fine. On the other machine I get the error upon instantiating the service client. I add the reference by choosing Add Service Reference from the project menu, and pointing to the remote wsdl file. I can't seem to find what the difference between the two...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
