File upload size checking.

Hi All,

I have an HTML File upload control and I want to check the size of uploaded file by the user at the time of uploading. If size exceeds 25MB, then it shows the confirmation message that "File size exceeds 25MB. Do you want to continue anyway". If user clicks on OK button then the file is uploaded else not.

I found many solution but all have some limitations.

Please try your codes before posting.

Thanks & Best of luck.

This website is not a place to trade code or to ask people to do your coding work for you. If you have a solution but it is limited and you want to expand its functionality you can give a detailed explanation of what you would like it to do. You can explain what you did to try to get it that way. And you can explain where you are currently stuck and then we will help you.

The only methods I have seen for tracking filesize prior to uploading is to use some sort of activeX type object that a user must install.
I don't think javascript has file IO rights on it's own and the server won't know until it receives the file.
(Even google makes you wait until it's received up to it's limit before telling you it won't accept the file)

Hi everyone, I have a problem with the file uploading in Asp.Net and I have read a lot on forums on this but never found an answer. Here is the problem: I know Asp.Net maximum Length for uploading a file to the server is 4Mo but I changed that maximum to about 10Mo in my web.config file : <httpRuntime executionTimeout="45" maxRequestLength="10000" useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" />

Hi, I am writing an ASP.NET project where I allow users to upload files to the server. I have changed to web.config to allow a total file size of 100MB. My problem is that if the total file size exceed this amount the page simply stops works, and I get a "Server unreachable" error. Is there any way to handle this, so I am able to present the user with a nice error message telling him that the maximum file size has been exceeded.

I need help in implementing proper error handling. I am trying to upload a file based on the sample code below. The code works well except if the file selected is too big. I do know about the maxRequestLength parameter of the <httpRuntime> section and that works as expected. What I want is to enforce a max file size but haven't been able to trap the error thrown when the file is too large and that's where I could use some help.

Howdy I've got a rather strange issue occuring. I used forms based .NET authentication, although I'm also setting some session variables when people login. However, I've found when people use one of my webform pages which includes a button that pops up a window where you can upload files, if you upload files in this popup window, it seems to somehow clear out all of the session variables and the users get logged out. However, if...

Hi all, I'm trying to limit the file size of an image submission and I keep running into various problems. I've got most of it working, but I'm stumped and I have a basic question as to WHY this works at all! if ($_FILES !="") { if ($_FILES<=0) { header("Location: /fileerror.php"); exit; }

hi all, In asp.net 2.0 there is a limit on file size upload of 4MB. I know this limit can be increased in web.config file. Is there any way to check the file size before upload ? if user is trying to upload file size more than 4MB then just display a message that file size is too big and can't be uploaded. thanks

Note: You may skip to the end of the article if all you want is the perl code. Introduction Many websites have a form or a link you can use to download a file. You click a form button or click on a link and after a moment or two a file download dialog box pops-up in your web browser and prompts you for some instructions, such as “open” or “save“. I’m going to show you how to do that using a perl script. What You Need Any recent...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
