Hi
I'm writing a commercial program which must be reliable. It has to do
some basic reading and writing to and from files on the hard disk,
and also to a floppy.
I have foreseen a potential problem. The program may crash
unexpectedly while writing to the file. If so, my program should
detect this during startup, and then (during startup) probably delete the
data added to the file and redo the writing operation.

Recently, one of our database's mdf and ldf was corrupted. We were able to
bring back the database with the capability of importing and querying the
data. However, the data is not the full list. Some of the data are still
missing because the tables we want still has sone 'chain mis linkage' error
when we did a DBCC checkdb/checktable. DBCC couldn't fix those errors
either. We're pretty sure that there are some data still burry under the...

I have SQL server 2000 which recently crashed. I try to recover it and
found out that the Master database is corrupt. I never backup my
server using inline sql backup nor any third party backup program that
aware to SQL server. But I have full system backup of volume c on tape
(using NTBackup), which includes old version of Master database. My
questions are:
1. How can I recover this file into SQL server?

Hi, is there anything I need to do to recover hard disk space after
deleting a table? I have a large table with blob fields and when I
first created the table I did not compact this field. So I am planning
to create a second table with this field compacted and then delete the
first table completely. I can "drop" this table from the control center
to delete the table, right? Then will this automatically free up space

I've had a user delete one of the client records, I do have a version of
the DB with all records intact before the deletion occured.
Whats the best approach to getting all the related records in each of
the tables? I have about 12 tables to put data back into and multiple
records for each. Would I need to make an append or update query for each
table?

I cannot open my Access 2003 database - I receive this error:
"The Visual Basic for Applications Project in the database is corrupt."
I understand that sudden and inexplicable failures like this are to be
expected, so I have a backup.
I was able to get to the database window and can export individual tables
and queries - but is there a way to do this in a batch, rather than one by
one? The database has *a lot* of tables and queries.

I have been testing the db2 recover command on a DB2 V8.2 Linux
database. The database contains a single partition. I am not
archiving logs but retaining them on disk. the backup image is to
disk as well. I performed the following in order :
1. OFFLINE BACKUP <time#1>
2. Create table S.T (c1 smallint)
3. Insert several rows into S.T - values 1,2,3,4,5
4. ONLINE BACKUP <time#2>
5. Insert several more rows 6,7,8,9

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
