Greetings,
I have have been working for almost 18 months on a set of WebControls where
some are similar to the ASP.NET standard and well-enhanced while other
controls are completely new and interesting. All my controls are
implemented from scratch (in VB.NET). Some are C#, er I plan to have a
second copy. I'm more productive in VB.NET (mainly because of the better
intellisense support -- yes, I rely on it because I don't remember...

Hello,
I would like to build a website using ASP.NET. I would like website
visitors to be able to download code that I would like to make available to
them and that would be residing on my personal server.
Are there any code samples or books that someone can recommend so that I can
implement this. I would prefer VB.NET code, but I am willing to convert
from C# if necessary.

Hi,
I have 2 fields in a database: 'email' and 'website'.
In the majority of cases, the website field is not populated even though the
email address is. In 90% of cases, the website will be 'www.' followed by
whatever is after the '@' symbol in the email address.
Would anyone be able to help me with the SQL that would take whatever is
after the '@' sign in the email address, add it to 'www.' and populate the

What, from a high level point of view, is the difference (in Visual
Studio 2005) between Website (accessed with Open Website or Create
Website from the StartPage) that is an ASP.NET Website, and a Project
that is created with the "ASP.NET Application" template?
I see some obvious differences: the Project creates the working folder
under the Visual Studio 2005\Projects directory, while the Website
creates it in the Inetpub\wwwroot...

Hi all,
I'm trying to think of the best way to achieve a certain goal and thought I would draw on the experience here.
What I am currently doing is compiling a set of HTML files that form the help guide of an application I am working on.
The help guide needs to be integrated into both a C# .NET desktop app AND a .NET based website using master pages.
The requirements are that:
(a) The same set of files are to be accessible through...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
