DirectorySearch er doesn't return Active Directory OU's

Dear Reader,

When I try to run the following LDAP filter with the DirectorySearch er
it doesn't return any OU's but when I use it with Active Directory
Users and Computers it returns the desired results:

(&(ou>="")(name =ICTS*))

Furthermore if I use the following Filter the DirectorySearch er
retrieves all OU's:

(&(objectClass= organizationalU nit))

But using the next Filter it doesn't return anything although there
are OU names starting with ICTS:

(&(objectClass= organizationalU nit) (ou=ICTS*) )

nor

(&(objectClass= organizationalU nit) (name=ICTS*) )

Anyone an idea?

Best regards and thanks for your help,
Rémy Samulski

I'm trying to authenticate a user against a windows network. I want it to work across any kind of windows network from NT 4.0 up to Windows 2003 ADS. So far I've been using DirectoryEntry and DirectorySearcher and doing a search on Active Directory. With the addition of a customer on an NT 4.0 network, I've had to add DllImport using LogonUser() from advapi32.dll in addition to the directory search. To simplify my code, Is it...

I need to add a parameter to a directorysearcher.filter rather than using hard-coded text. I have the following code that finds all members of an AD group and then for each of those results tries to find that users samAccountName. Perhaps I'm going about this incorrectly but I know if I could pass my searcher.filter a paramter rather than typing "cn=jason", etc this code would work, any help would be very much appreciated!: 'Get all...

Hi! I do have a problem while retrieving the AccountName of Members of a Active Directory-Group. I get the members with the DirectorySearcher (of the System.DirectoryServices namespace). It all works well with member-entries like: "CN=blablabla,OU=Users,OU=xxx,OU=xx,DC=xx,DC=xxxxxx,DC=com" or "CN=lastname\,firstname info&X moreinfo-A,OU=Users,OU=xxx,OU=xx,DC=xx,DC=xxxxxxx,DC=com"

Hello! So far, I can't find any information on making a connection to active directory for reports in visual studio .net 2003. From the list of Available Data Sources I select "OLE DB (ADO)" and from the list of OLE DB Providers I select "OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Directory Services". On the next screen where I put in my data source I try something like: LDAP://OU=<ou>,DC=<dc1>,DC=<dc2> OR...

I found a file on the web that will allow you to enumerate groups but it was an .hta and the top level admins won't allow this. I need to give managers access to the groups so that when a new user is created they can tell me who they want their account to be modeled after. The html app works great as a .hta file but when it is saved as a web page it won't list the members of any groups. I get an error on line 182: "ActiveX component can't create...

Dear All, sorry but I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my problem. I was using the following asp code to create users in Active Directory. Suddenly, and I don't know the reason, users are created but the account is disabled (see the flag User.AccountDisabled = False ). There is also another problem even if the user does not exist , the application returns to me with the message that the user already exist. Thank you for...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
