It's easy to make a field required for inserts, just set it to not null
and don't give it a default.
But how does one make a field required for updates? For instance, we
have a table with a field that keeps track of which application last
updated the table
MYTABLE
------
ID PK

I would like to install the .Net 1.1 framework on a Web Server running W2K
to be able to run ASP.NET files, but I'm not sure where to find the files I
need for the .Net framework.
I have ".NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1" (NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe) and
"ASP.NET Security Update for .NET Framework 1.1 SP1"
(NDP1.1sp1-KB886903-X86.exe).
The SP1 will not install unless 1.1 is already installed (I thought that SP1
was the whole 1.1...

First of all, I'm an Asian and I need to input Japanese, Korean and so
on. I've tried many PHP IDEs today, but almost non of them supported
Unicode (UTF-8) file.
I've found that the only Unicode support IDEs are DreamWeaver 8 and
Zend PHP Studio.
DreamWeaver provides full support for Unicode. However, DreamWeaver is
a web editor rather than a PHP IDE. It only supports basic IntelliSense
(or code completion) and doesn't have anything...

I have a trigger on UPDATE on a table. I'm running some maintenance
UPDATE and DELETE queries which I want the trigger to ignore but at the
same time I want other UPDATE queries that other users might be running
to keep triggering the trigger. Is there a SET statement perhaps that
I could set before my query? Or a clause in the UPDATE statement?
This is on MSSQL 2000 server, on Win2k3

I have an application that creates and makes use of a table in tempdb.
My problem is that I have a couple of triggers on this table that get
dropped everytime SQL Server restarts (due to the fact that tempdb gets
recreated). Is there a way to automatically recreate these triggers
each time SQL Server starts? It looks like it is not possible to have a
"create trigger" statement within a stored procedure. I would greatly
appreciate some...

The table in the database has a field called LabID. That field is an
integer and consists of the year plus a counter. For example, the
first record of 2006 would be "20060001," the second record of 2006
would be "20060002" and so on. I'm trying to create an Insert trigger
that can generate the ID value when a new record is inserted, but I'm
not quite sure how to implement that trigger. Can anyone help?

Hello All,
I have a table on which I have created a insert,Update and a Delete trigger. All these triggers write a entry to another audit table with the unique key for each table and the timestamp.
Insert and Update trigger work fine when i have only one of them defined.
However when I have all the 3 triggers in place and when i try to fire a insert query on the statement. It triggers both insert and update trigger at the same time and...

I have an application that inserts a row into a database. This in turn fires a trigger that fires an executable using xp_cmdshell which sends a parameter to a message queue. I then have a message queue trigger which fires another execuatable that makes a call to the database using the parameter to retrieve all of the information from the original row. The data is then sent to a 3rd party application.
This runs fine if I do a test insert...

I haven't gotten a response yet, so I moved this from another group. I
have been working on this for 2 days so if anyone has any ideas, I
would be grateful.
I have a 3rd party program that creates and populates tables in my
SQL
Server 2005 database.
The program fails on the inserts on "tblB" because the field it
creates is too small for the data that it is trying to put in it

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
