I am using Visual Studio 2005 to create a web site which includes reports.
The web site has several sub-folders.
When working with reports I can't get the website data sources (classes and
datasets in App_Code folders throughout the project) to behave
consistently.
Sometimes data source are displayed, sometimes not. Sometimes I can add
new data sources, sometimes I can't. Some classes are displayed, some
aren't. I can't figure out why.
When I create a report and click on Data on the menu. sometimes it shows Add
New Data Source, and sometimes it doesn't. When I show the data sources,
sometimes the Add New Data Source icon is disabled, sometimes it isn't.
Sometimes the Data menu shows Add New Data Source, but the Add New Data
Source icon is disabled.
When I Show Data Sources, sometimes data sources are displayed from App_Code
folders throughout the web site, and sometimes no data sources are
displayed at all. Clicking refresh doesn' t help.
Sometimes if I log off my computer and log on again, I can then see the Add
New Data source icon, and/or data sources from App_Code folders throughout
the project.
When I can see data sources, I can see some classes in App_Code folders but
not others, although they appear to be similar in construction.
What is up with data sources - why can I sometimes add a new data source,
sometimes I can't? Why can I somtimes see them and sometimes I can't? What
is required in a class to appear as a data source, other than to be placed
in an App_Code folder?
Thanks

Hi,
my existing web application(vb,asp) takes data from
diff sources and populates a sql server which is in turn
used as the data source for the application.
this population of data happens by a nightly process(once
in a day) .
now the requirement is that we need the real data all of
the times . now if i use merging of Data Sets into single

Hi,
I'm trying to understand a situation where ASP seems to be "blocking" of
"queuing" requests. This is on a Win2K Advanced Server, with IIS5.
I've seen some posts (e.g.,
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=Tidy7IDbDHA.2108%40cpmsftngxa06.phx.gbl)
that indicate that ASP will queue up requests when they come in with the
same "session".

I'm an Access user, and I'm trying to learn MySQL and then PHP so I can make
some web databases. But it just isn't clicking.
I've followed some tutorials, and picked up a book, but just getting to
square one has been a pain. I can follow the tutorials and get to the point
where I can make tables and stuff, but I don't know how I got there, or what
to do if something changes that makes it different than the tutorial.
MySQL doesn't seem...

Hello,
I have several drop-down lists on my ASP.NET page. I need to keep data
sources of these lists in Session State.
What would be the most effective method to serialize this kind of data
structures?
Thanks for any hints,

Hello,
A section in Data Sources window is mystifying to me.
In the case of my code the Data Sources window shows my references to
the data access layer.
First here is what I see in my Data Sources window ...
( means expandable, means expanded, is a checked checkbox,
"QmsDataLayer" is the name of the referenced data layer.)

Documentation states that there supposed to be a "Data Sources" windows in VS 2005. See below. I can not find Data menu in VS 2005 anywhere. Anybody sees that menu?
Opening the Data Sources Window
You display the Data Sources window by clicking Show Data Sources on the Data menu. The Data menu is only available when a project is open in Visual Studio.

When I open the Data Sources window and create a new data source, everything
works fine. But if I have a form showing in the IDE, the Data Sources
window becomes disabled and doesn't display any of the database components.
Yet, when I switch to code view, I can see everything just fine.
Does anyone have any idea why the Data Sources window becomes disabled when
I'm viewing forms?
TIA.

I'm using VS2005, C#, ASP.NET 2.0. I'm trying to create a report using SQL
Reporting Services (to be used in local mode so I don't have to deal with
SQL Server). When I create a new report in my website, nothing shows up in
the Website Data Sources window. I added a few different strongly-typed
Datasets to my website, and they don't show up. The only way I could get
anything to show up was to create a new class that's derived from a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
