Help plz, webmethods aren't called any longer

Everything has been fine for years and the code

Dim dsNews As DataSet
Dim ws As New localhost.Servi ce
dsNews = ws.GetNews()

was working on my developer PC, but now I get the error:
"There is an error in XML document (1, 1214)"

I've tried to call other webmethods and webservices - the same error.
Tried creating other projects and called simpliest boolean webmethod - the
same.
Where can be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

What it sounds like is happening is that GetNews is returning some data with
some invalid (unescaped or imporoperly-encoded) attribute value(s), which is
why it would suddenly stop working. You may be able to dig deeper into the
exception for a better message or grab the raw XML and see what the data
looks like around that part of the string.

I solved the problem after I have changed the regional options and then
turned them back.

I have an application written for mod_perl and Apache that needs to be able to send some XML queries to a WebMethods server for access to corporate systems. I have been attempting to use LWP to POST my XML query to the target WebMethods server and find I only get 401s (authorization errors) from the WebMethods server when it is configured for username/password authentication. If credentials are turned off on the WM server, I can get my...

Hello, folks! Newbie question here: I just purchased Visual C++.NET 2003 Standard and have found the build sizes to be rather large. A simple "Hello World" executable (console) comes to 44Kb and a standard window (nothing more than a window) executable comes to 23Kb, both compiled to "Release". I have compiled the exact same code under Dev-C++ and those executables are 4kb and 5Kb, respectively. What the heck is with this? Does anyone...

Hi, I was wondering if there are any best practices on the creation of webmethods? I'll try to explain this a little more: My problem is that we are changing an existing (large) DCOM application to use web services, but we have like hundreds of different methods you can call and what I wanted to do, is add a couple of generic webmethods that take a serializable .NET class or structure, and in that class or structure we put all the...

I've got a .NET Framework V1.1 web service running on a Windows 2003 Server that has 2 web methods that are called from a web application on the same server. One is a fire-and-forget method that executes a long running process that results in a database being updated. The other is a normal syncronous method that returns configuration information to the caller. They both log their errors to the application event log.

Hello, I'm writing an class library that I imagine people from different countries might be interested in using, so I'm considering what needs to be provided to support foreign languages, including asian languages (chinese, japanese, korean, etc). First of all, strings will be passed to my class methods, some of which based on the language (and on the encoding) might contain characters that require more that a single byte.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
