I have a page with several dropdownlists, several text boxes and
several buttons which perform calculations. I need to validate one
dropdownlist (not the whole page) with the click of one button. I have
a separate submit button which should validate the other fields.
This page on MSDN does what I want - almost!

Hi All,
Looking for a little expert advice on a few web standards issues. I am
currently trying to understand the impact of web standards for a web
application I work with. I have been doing a lot of research in the
areas of XHTML and WAI compliance, and am attempting to come up with a
recommendation for our product in terms of standards level compliance.
Ideally, I would like to be at XHTML 1.0 Strict.
However, in my reading I have...

Hi all,
I'm attempting to write a validator for some email template files we
use as part of our e-commerce application (incidentally in C#) and I've
run into a problem as I'm not a huge user of XML.
Essentially an email template can contain any valid XHTML, but also has
tags such as <membershipcardheaderand <membershipcardfooterthat can
appear anywhere in the body of the HTML.
I've managed to download the XSD for XHTML transitional...

I have two dropdownlists that are bound to the same datasource and I
have a couple of questions:
1) Because they are bound to the same datasource, I am assuming that
they only make 1 round trip to the DB server -- is that correct?
2) On a user's click of a button, one of the actions in the button
OnClick event is to set the selectedindex of the 2nd DDL to that of the
1st. I get a runtime error here that says that the given index is...

Hi,
Firstly, I have not the slightest intention of using framesets - the reason
for this post is merely to ask for assistance in furthering my understanding
of XHTML.
I was under the impression that XHTML fully supports framesets, hence the
Frameset document type. Therefore, can anyone please tell me why the
following markup doesn't validate correctly in VS.NET 2005?

Hi. I have been working at home on a web project (VSNET 2005 SP1). Now
I have brought the project at work, and I suddenly have plenty of
warnings like:
Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional) - Attribute..... is not a valid
attribute of.....
Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional) - Attribute..... is considered
outdated. A newer construct is recommended.
Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional) - Attribute values must be enclosed
in quotation marks.

I have a site that uses a bit of flash and I include a link for
visitors to get flash if they don't have it. Unfortunately, the XHTML
validator complains about the "get flash" url, even when using
transitional. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I can't
control Adobe's url and why would XHTML care? The "get flash" url is:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW
Thanks.

I have a dropdownlist. I want to fill it with times (using vb.net code).
I want the entries in the ddl to be from "8:00 AM" to "5:00 PM",
incrementing every half hour.
I know I could type in the values manually but something tells me that I
could loop thru a time variable and add 1/2 hr, etc... then add it in a
loop. (More efficient.)
Any coders want to give this a shot? The less code the better. Thanks!

Hello,
On a webpage, create an UpdatePanel with two DropDownLists.
Set AutoPostBack of DropDownList1 to true.
In the SelectedIndexChanged method, refill DropDownList2 and set the focus
to DropDownList1 using the ScriptManager SetFocus method.
Use the Visual Studio debugger.
Set a breakpoint on in the (!IsPostBack) part of the PageLoad method.
Start the web application and continue after the breakpoint has been reached.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
