Button1.Attribu tes.Add("onclic k", "javascript:che ckForm();");
}
</script>

<script type="text/javascript">
function checkForm()
{
if(document.get ElementById('tx tUserName').val ue =="")
{
if (window.event) //IE
{
alert("IE");
window.event.re turnValue = false;
}
}
else //Firefox
{
alert("Firefox" );
event.preventDe fault(); // <-- What should I write here instead
//retrun false; is also not working

Thought I'd share this since it took me a long time to get it working. Thanks to a bunch of contributers in Google Groups who shared javascript, etc. The question was: How can I put a reset button on my ASP.NET web page, and have an HTML reset button click clear 1) all validator text display and 2) validation summary display. Problem was clearing them and yet still leaving them working and visible if the user immediately began...

Hi, I have a form for uploading documents and inserting the data into a mysql db. I would like to validate the form. I have tried a couple of Javascript form validation functions, but it appears that the data goes straight to the processing page, rather than the javascript seeing if data is missing and popping up an alert. I thought it may be because much of the form is populated with data from the db (lists, etc.), but when I leave...

hi, using .net 2.0, i have a web form with lots of textboxes, drop-down-lists etc. There are lots of required field validators and regular expression validators. When i click the 'save' button, the client-side validation is executed immediately and the errors flash up on screen. However at the same time, a post-back is performed and the page is obviously un-usable while it is awaiting a response from the server. it looks very poor from...

Hello guys, now that I'm that I'm working on my first major 'open' forms (with uncontrolled users I mean, not a secure backend-interface), I'd like to add a lot of possibilities to check wether certain fields match certain criteria, and inform the user in different ways when the data is wrong (offcourse, this will be checked on posting the data again, but that's something I've got a lot of experience with). Now, offcourse it's...

Our intranet server died a few months ago and we migrated everything over to a new one. When we did that, any app (asp.net 1.1) of ours that depended on client-side navigation just broke. What happens is that in IE, any button that causes a post-back but also triggers client-side validation doesn't do anything. It doesn't validate, nor causes a postback. Nor does it give me a JS error.

Hi all I'm a complete newbie to web development and Javascript especially. I've been creating a form for a webpage and have used a validation script gen_validatorv2.js which I downloaded from the zip file referenced on http://www.javascript-coder.com/html-form/javascript-form-validation.phtml I managed to get everything working and was testing through Firefox that alerts were generated. However at the very end I thought I'd better check...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
