request.form error (Object reference not set to an instance of an object)

1 New Member
I'm new to the .net environment. What I'm trying to do is to have an html page call a .aspx application and pass certain information.

I have a field in the html file

<input type="text" name="UserName" >

I'm call the .aspx program
<form name="form1" method="POST" action="/application/test.aspx?">

In the application, I'm trying to retrieve the value in 'username'

reqUsername = Request.Form("U sername")

I'm getting the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Is there something I'm not declaring or any other ideas.

Thanks in advance

You can pass variables in the query string. This page explains it better than I could:

Just curious why you need another page? Why not just use an aspx page to show and process the form?

Hi there, I am busy writing a new asp.net application and I am reusing some of my existing asp functions and methods in a user control. I need access to session, request and response in some of the functions and I can't find out how to do it. Here is an example of what I do and I get the following Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or shared member initializer without an explicit instance of the...

Hi all I've got a java microEdition client trying to make soap requests to my .Net service. i keep getting "Server was unable to process request..." err msg when attempting to make the request. The method runs fine from a web browser, so i suspect the problem is with the java app. i added a simple "Hello World" method to the service for testing purposes and the java client calls and receives the service fine. the problem appears to be...

This is probably a silly question, but I've gotten myself confused. My app has two forms, form1 and form2. form1 is the start up object in the propers. An event in form1 instantiates form2. Dim myForm as HardwareStore myForm = New HardwareStore myForm.Show() I understand that my form2 can be referenced by

I think I may why this is happening but I am a little fuzzy as to what the solution should be as I am somewhat new to all of this. My simplified code that generates the error is: public static string getCartCookieValue() { if (Request.Cookies != null) {

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
