sp1 install problems

My SP1 install seemed to want to keep repeating the install. I spent 4 hours
running the install, then it ran again (I got the message up saying it had
finished, then it started again). I didn't realise what it was doing until
after about 30 minutes, and at that point I thought cancelling might
actually undo the original install, so I let it run again (total install
time at this point 8 hours!), I got the install finished message and when it
then tried to install again I cancelled.

Looking in Add/Remove programs I can't see VS 2005 SP 1 listed. In my
"About" for Visual Studio it has version 8.0.50727.762 (SP .050727-7600).

In the Event Log I get the following sequence under Application, all of
which makes me think it hasn't installed. Any ideas what is happening?

Hi
I've seen this problem before, did you have Outlook running when the install
restarted itself? when i saw it it was the whole VS2005 install that was
starting over, and it happened about 3 times on boot up and then whenever
Outlook (not Outlook Express) was loaded, it also did it with Word. I fixed
it by re-installing VS from scratch (both VS2003 and VS2005) after the
re-install it seemed to stop, but don't ask me why

I do use Outlook - not Outlook Express - and it wasn't open, but sometimes I
find Outlook still running in the background even when you think you have
closed it, so that may explain it.

This is due to hotfix kb886904. It must be removed via add/remove programs
before the sp1 will install.

I am running PHP 5.0.0, with Apache 2.0.50, and i am using the go-pear.php install script to install PEAR. It installs ok, but when i click on the pear installer link (which is installed in c:\www\pear\index.php), all the links are strange, they seem to have additional quotes and slashes in, for example:

Not installing Visual Basic at the WinXP SP1A level - was the only way I found that I could install WinXPSP2. My computer was purchased with WinXP SP1 Professional. In making a release of the recent changes to pdb.py announce here: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.python/browse_thread/thread/b4cb720ed359a733/fbd9f8fef9693e58#fbd9f8fef9693e58 I tried using setup.py. I think it's great that setup.py tries to obviate the need for "Make" by just doing everything. (In contrast to Perl's MakeMaker). But alas the problems I was running into was setup.py not doing enough (for just Python). Here...

I've just built my first Setup-Installable VB 2005 package. I have the full Profession Edition VS 2005, not the Express edition, and am patched to the current SP. It installs on the development machine (Win 2K) and runs just as well as it does in the VS IDE. I used the Walkthrough for Deploying a Windows-based Application in the MSDN files supplied. This application accesses Active Directory in several ways, including using ADODC to...

After having worked with Apache/MySQL/PHP for a year or so under Linux I need, purely for convenience, to set up a parallel platform under Windows. Unfortunately, since I last did this (using Windows XP Pro) I've moved on to Windows Vista (Home Premium). MySQL and Apache2 have both installed satisfactorily, but I'm having problems with PHP5. I downloaded the PHP5 Windows installer (the .msi file) for 32-bit Windows, which is supposed...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
