.Net, Word macros and trusts

2 New Member
Hi Gurus!

Our users are required to use a MS Word template for reporting. The template has many bookmarked form fields. We have written an ASP.Net (2.0) application to populate those fields (server side) and download the document to the client. This all works well but there are still a couple of urgent issues we are having.

1. The template contains macros which must be available in the generated document. If we run the application from the browser on the local host, all goes well and the generated document contains the macros. However, if the application is run from a client, the document gets generated and downloaded but the macros are absent. Our browsers are configured for pass-through authentication and, even if we give everyone admin rights on the Word COM component, the problem persists. I suspect that it is a trusts issue. We would really appreciate some help with this.

2. Even though our program closes the Word object with 'objWord.Quit' we often find a number of winword.exe processes still running. We would also appreciate some advice on what is causing this and how to prevent it.

Thanks.

Have found the problem. The generated document needs to reference the macros in the template. Putting the template in the user's Word template file location has fixed the issue. Will look at code to embed the macros directly into the document as occurs manually through Organizer.

Hi I'm using the word.applicationclass within my vb.net application to convert some word documents to text files. Is there anyway I can disable macros whilst loading the document, in Word I can do that by running winword /a, but not sure how to add the switch using the word.applicationclass object. Thanks

They are wanting to use word to print out some cards 4 to a page preformatted stuff from an access database. the problem with this is they don't want to do the same card twice. How can setup a variable in the table for printed and update it from word when I do a merge? I thought about macros in word but at my work they have macros turned off on all systems.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
