They are wanting to use word to print out some cards 4 to a page
preformatted stuff from an access database.
the problem with this is they don't want to do the same card twice.
How can setup a variable in the table for printed and update it from
word when I do a merge?
I thought about macros in word but at my work they have macros turned
off on all systems.
any help or ideas are greatly appreciated

You don't. You run the whole thing from within Access.
Run Merge. (Albert Kallal has a nice example on his website)
prompt user for "Printed OK?" using MsgBox.
If intReply=vbYes then
docmd.openquery "update selected records"
End if
Have you considered doing this with a label report rather than mail merge?
You can set up the report to print four to a page. You get more control
doing it this way.

Poor Steve, you still don't understand... This is *not* a game...
You can't post just like nothing happened.
To all: Explanation and more on this answer to Steve: http://home.tiscali.nl/arracom/stopsteve.html
It is clear that Steve was NOT advertising/jobhunting in this post, *but* ...
==> Sadly enough this is the second time a real 'hunt' has started.
Again: The idea to stop Steve is as simple as this:
==> Hunt *every* post of PCD, no matter if he is advertising.
==> UNTIL he stops the advertising/jobhunting.

To Steve, who started his blatant advertising and job-hunting again ...

-- You abuse this group and others for job-hunting and advertising over and over again
-- You are insulting lots of people here when they ask you to stop this

-- You posted as Steve, Ron, Tom, Rachel, Kathy, Kristine, Heather and ???

Thanks to everyone will give it a try and see if that is what they
want. As usual as soon as they get EXACTLY what they want, I get

Arno,
Sadly, in this case *YOU* are the one who comes off as the newsgroup
abuser. If Steve advertises, then blast him, but if he isn't (your own
statement that this e-mail wasn't advertising) then leave him be.

Bri,
I can understand people who are not happy with this.
However I wonder if you actually did read the link I provided.
The plan to stop Steve, is to hunt *every* post, no matter if he's advertising or not.
I did *not* start this because of this thread... but because of these:
(microsoft.publ ic.access.getti ngstarted, all from last week)
-- Computer Inventory question
-- Still need to track attendance of bus riders
-- Before i throw myself into Access, a small question....
-- Building a database
-- Phone support
-- Help, no table
In all these threads advertising/jobhunting by PCDatasheet.
Same old story, same old song.
I am not the only person who told Steve these are free forums. His answer was posting another add.
If you see another way to stop this maniac?

Arno,
As I said, Blast the e-mails that advertise, ignore the others. This
combines both positive and negitive feedback. If you attack all of his
posts, good or bad, then there is no reason for him to change since he
will get blasted either way.
I have read your links and have followed all of your other posts in the
past reguarding this. I agree he needs to stop advertising, but I
disagree with blasting him when he does follow the rules.

You sound very reasonable Bri.
I just can't think of another way to stop this advertising/jobhunting maniac.
Attacking only the advertising did not help that much in the past.
Discussion with Steve only results in 'word-twisting'.
His real name is his weak point. He can't hide his real name ...
The earlier threads on this at least have resulted in Steve going away for a while.
(He 'promised' me to do some homework ...)
There has been hardly any advertising here in the groups in the two periods that Steve was gone.
As far as I am concerned he might as well stay away.
But as I said, your opinion sounds very reasonable.
If more people think like you, I will reconsider this 'hunt'.

Arno, do you want to land in everyone's killfile? If you insist on
responding to someone in CDMA based on posts they've made somewhere
else (I don't read any other Access newsgroups), then *you're* the
one who is annoying the hell out of me, and ^you're* the one whose
posts will be ignored by increasingly large numbers of CDMA readers.

Hi everyone,
I've created a mail merge Word doc. (using Office XP) , the data source is
an Access query.
Functionality I'm attempting to set up is:
User sets a boolean field to true for each person for whom a mail
merge letter is desired.
The query reads address info from the table for each record where is
true.

I have a strange situation using Access to automate a Word mail merge. Using
Access 2000 and Word 2000, the code opens Word, opens the document in Word,
sets a table
in the calling Access application as the data source, and then performs a
merge. Everything works fine.
However, when a user uses it in Access 2002 and Word 2002, an extra instance
of the Access application is opened and remains open at the end. Sometimes
it remains open

Help!!!
What am I doing wrong? I am working with Office 2003 and am trying to create a command button on an Access form that will create a mail merge in Word from an Access table.
I want to make the mail merge seamless to the user so all they have to do is click on the command button and the letters are generated.
For the button I created an event procedure with the following code:
Private Sub RunLetters_Click()

The 3 records are all in the same table. If I use a control source that

pages in the mail merge, but needs to be listed together in one
paragraph.
Is there anyway of looping through the 3...

First off, many many thanks to Albert who wrote the Mail Merge code for MS Access I am using. It has been working beautifully for a few years. However, my client just (without notice!) upgraded from Access 2000 to Access 2007. Now that component is failing.
The merge is building the data source file fine (text file named merge.888).
I am providing an absolute path reference to the word file being used for the mail merge. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
