Hey all, I am automating a web page from Visual Foxpro. I can control all the textboxes, radio buttons, and command buttons using syntax such as: oIE.Document.Forms("searchform").Item(<name>).Value = <myvalue> But I cannot control a dropdown with an onchange event. I can set the dropdown's value and selectedIndex, but then calling the onChange() or Click() does not do anything. It only seems to fire the onchange if I

I use an Active X control on an Access 97 database that displays pictures, its called DbPix. My problem occurs when a user tries to open a form or report that uses this control without first running the exe that installs and registers this control. This creates a nasty error message, I would like to display my own message instead asking them to run the exe. My question is how can I check this control has been installed, I believe it is...

Hi All, I just wonder if in C#, I can develop a user defined control that can call its parent function which is not yet developed. For example, how do I make my user control call a to-be-developed-function cmdOkay_Click() function as described below. 1. Create an user control that contains an OK button as below Public Class MyButton:System.Windows.Form.UserControl

Hey all - I'm having a really confusing problem concerning a web service. Right now, I have an application that needs to call a web service that does nothing but return "true" (this will obviously change once the program's fully built to actually do something, but for testing, it works). The only code I added to the service is below:

In my WindowForms Application I have Control1 inside Control2 inside Control3 inside theMainForm. I have a scenario that Control1 should call/sendEvent to theMainForm. in response, theMainForm calls a function that among other things call Control3 to delete Control2 (containing Control1) and add another control instead. (something like - 1. On the left, a treeView navigation control.

I have a .net webservice (located in a different machine) that is called twice from a windows form .net application. The ws works fine if I called only one call, but failed if I called them both, one after another. The following error occurs every time I called the second web service: System.Net.WebException was unhandled Message="The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was

All, Not sure if this is possible or not - I've created a class which performs an asynchronous operation and provides notification when the operation is complete. I'd like the notification to be performed on the same thread thread that instantiated the class. One way to do this is to pass an ISynchronizeInvoke into the class and use it to synchronize the callback. In the constructor of the class, could I take note of the current thread...

I have a C# winforms application that makes periodic web service calls in background thread to my web service server. These calls work fine almost all the time but on rare occassions the web service method call will never return and the entire application will freeze, even though the call is being made on its own background thread, not the main UI thread. Does anyone know any reason why a particular web service method call would cause my...

Hi all, I need to call windows' "open with" dialog from my C# windows form application. After the user selects application, control must return to me (I have to launch directly the process). I found this solution: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/shell/openwith.aspx but it's not good for me since it will execute the process directly.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
