I copied the following code snippet from A97 HELP. Am getting an error at compile time suggesting there's a problem with the first line (compile error, user-defined type not defined). It is likely that I've left something out. Doesn't seem to like Dim dbs as Database - that's what's hi-lited after acknowledging the error. Can you see anything wrong with that syntax? Dim dbs As Database, rst As Recordset Dim rstEmployees As Recordset,...

Is there any way for one Session to remove and update objects in another Session? I seriously doubt it, but thought I'd ask. Here's why: I have some data that is unique per user (or per session - similar to "welcome back, Jim" after Jim logs in) and consumed across multiple pages. This "per user" data lives in a database, so toward improving runtime performance I want to cache data supporting this and similar per user features. Because the...

When I compile a window form client for web service, there is error message as follows: Program 'D:\usr\winVBcontrol\WinClient4WebServiceFileCS\obj\Debug\WinClient4WebServiceFileCS.exe' does not have an entry point defined Notice: I create a solution (perhaps for VB). In the sulotion, I created win form clients for web service with VB in a window form VB project and they worked fine. Now the current one is developed in a C# project under...

Hi, I have a user who somehow managed to turn off the min max close icons in her menu bar (across Access as a whole, not just the application that I built). She has it in her other MS products, so it must be an Access setting. Can anybody tell me how to get them back. I have seen a lot of postings that use application code to manipulate the buttons, but it didnt' get turned off with code, so I don't see how I can fix it with code.

Hi all This question is one of "theory" rather than a search for the specifics of a solution. I need some pointers as to how to proceed with my project. Here goes. My application allows the user to select from menu options. Some of the menus allow the user, via an options form, to select parameters for the display of reports. Those parameters will include things like the date range,

I have a .NET 1.1 component trying to connect to a database but I keep getting the following message when the exception is thrown: @"Login failed for user '\'." It appears that no user and role are being passed to the connection object, otherwise it would surely give the name of the user who was being denied. Has anyone come up against this before? A search told me to set both SQL and Windows authorisation on the SQL Server, but...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
