Install and Uninstall Visual Studio 2005

Hello,

I'm having some problems installing Visual Studio 2005.
I'll briefly explain what's the history of the problem here.

First I installed VS 2005 beta 2.
I uninstalled it later via the Windows Uninstall Tool you can download.

Then I installed Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition ENU. This was a trial
version for 180 days.
Now the trial period has expired and I had to install another version.

I bought the VS 2005 Pro edition and I tried to uninstall the Team
Edition.

When I trie dto uninstall the Team Edition I got an error saying
"Uninstall failed".

Then I tried to hit the button repair/add features. This completed
without errors but nothing was changed. Again I tried to uninstall but
it didn't work either.

Then I just tried to install the pro version on my PC. This worked, but
when I ran this copy I got the same message at startup saying that the
trial period was expired.

I did an uninstall of this version, which completed succesfully. Now in
my control panel there's nowhere an entry of Visual Studio. But if I
try to install the Pro version again it says that the installation path
cannot be changed because there's still a Visual Studio 2005 Team
Edition left on my PC. I can't remove it because a. it's not in my
list, b. if it would, uninstall would fail.

Next I tried to remove every instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005
tools such as reporting services, mobile tools, ....

This all worked except for "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Developer
Tools" which gave me an error 1361: A network error occurred reading
sqlmobiletools3 0.Msi or something like that. I seearched the registry
for that and I deleted the file. When I ran uninstall again I got
another error:

"Internal Error 2356: product.cab"

This means I cannot uninstall the previous version of Visual Studio
which has an expired date which apparently stays locked on the
following version I install.

Does anyone have any ideas about what to do to be able to install my
copy of VS2005???
Formatting is not an option ...

With kind regards,

Kenneth Truyers

I originally had VB.Net standard installed on my computer. I have subsequently installed Visual Studio .Net 2002 on my computer. I have not uninstalled VB.Net. When I look in my Add/Remove programs - there are two entries - one for VB.Net and the other for Visual Studio .Net. Both entries are over 1 GB in size. My question is whether the VB.Net is redundant information

I hope this is in the correct newsgroup. I have purchased and installed Visual Studio .Net 2003 under XP Professional. However, when I try to look at a VB.net sample web app, it will not open. I seem to be missing IIS or ASP.Net, but most likely both. Some research (has left me confused) but I think these are both available with Windows Server 2003 standard edition, a CD of which came with Visual Studio. First, do I really need to...

My SP1 install seemed to want to keep repeating the install. I spent 4 hours running the install, then it ran again (I got the message up saying it had finished, then it started again). I didn't realise what it was doing until after about 30 minutes, and at that point I thought cancelling might actually undo the original install, so I let it run again (total install time at this point 8 hours!), I got the install finished message and when...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
