I have created an MDI child form that I am using as a base form in a VB.Net
MDI application. The base MDI child form has a series of menu options on
it. I then use this form to create other MDI child forms (using
inheritance). The problem is that the derived MDI child form's menu options
don't seem to have inherited the functionality from the base form (i.e. the
inherited menu options don't work).
If I place a command button or other...

Hello,
Does anyone know if we will be able to inherit web controls from
web forms in Visual Studio 2005. This has been a source of constant
frustration for me with the other versions. For example, will I be
able to put buttons on a web form named webform1 and be able to show
those buttons on a new web form named webform2 simply by inheriting
webform1 on webform2?
Thanks,
Billy

Hi,
I'm still using VB.NET 2002.
I was wondering if I could do the following :
I'm creating a web-application.
Now I want to create a base-webform that contains the layout for all my
pages.
Would it then be possible to inherite my new webforms from that
base-webform?

Hi,
I've installed (by that I mean a full uninstall and re-install) Visual
Studio 2005 at least twice on my 64-bit windows machine (AMD64). I make
sure I install the SDK 2.0 for x64, and the installation is completed
'Succesfully' as per the setup dialogs.
However, when I try to open the IDE by clicking on the shortcut, or
attempting to open \Common7\IDE\devenv.exe, I get the following dialog:

What's up with inheritance in code behind? Is it reliable, or should I skip
it and forget about using inheritance in web forms until they get it right?
I'm using VB.NET 2005
I have a web form named wfBase.aspx.
In the code behind I have
Partial Public Class wfBase

Hi!
I'm currently developing a DLL that makes use of C++ and .net (mixed) using
Visual Studio 2003.
Now, as I wanted to move to the new Visual Studio 2005, I converted this
project into the new format (compiling with /clr:OldSyntax): everything works
and compiles fine.
Unfortunately, I cannot link to the newly created DLL from any other
application/DLL: LNK2019: unresolved external symbol. I've checked the DLL

I've been all over the net with this question, I hope I've finally
found a group where I can ask about Visual Basic 2005.
I'm at uni and we're working with Visual Basic 2005. I have some books,
- Programming Visual Basic by Balena (MS Press) and
- Visual Basic 2005 by Willis (WROX),
but they don't go into the forms design aspects and describing the
various controls at all. What bookscan I get that will cover that?

Visual C#.NET 2005 express has some issues, unlike VB.NET 2005 has
none of them:
The most annoying one is:
For example if there's a coding error, it must be reported at the
buttom of the screen in "error list" "REAL-TIME". At least, that was
like that in VB.NET 2005 express. But in Visual C# .NET 2005 you won't
be able to aware of coding errors till you press "play" build & run
button.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
