Windows Update .net 1.1 Service Pack 1 install issues

Hi

I am continually reminded that I have the .net 1.1 Service Pack 1
downloaded and available to install by Windows Update. However, it
continually fails to install when selected.

I already have .net 2.0 successfully installed, so I don't think that I
even need it!!

Shouldn't the Update facility recognise that I have 2.0 installed and
not offer the 1.1 patch? Is there anyway to reset the update facility
to eliminate this patch being offered?

Thanks

Neil

Disregarding the error for a moment, it's completely acceptable to have both
1.1 and 2.0 installed. 2.0 is not a replacement for 1.1 - they can exist
side by side. If you in fact do not have 1.1 installed, evidently the update
thinks you do have it installed. So the issue is the install error, not
whether having 1.1 together with 2.0 is a problem (it's not).

The company I work for has been running Access 2000 on a Windows NT server with Opportunistic Locking turned off on the server without issue for almost a year. We have just switched to a Windows 2000 file server with service pack 3 installed and are now experiencing at least 2 corruptions a day. The registry setting for Opportunistic Locking that was on the Windows NT server does not exist on the Windows 2000 server so we can not make the...

I am having trouble with 3 Updates for XP x64. Service pack 2, RDC update 925876 and Security Update 928843. I have enabled verbose logging, followed the steps in 873148, but there is no Error 5. I have no idea where to go. Can anyone help? I emailed the Automatic Update helpers, but they just told me to come here. I have gone round in circles with this. Two machines, one fresh install, one about 4 months old. Neither will install these...

To demonstrate my problem, I have a very simple VB Windows application. It has a text box that is used to display a counter, a button to reset the counter, and a timer that increments the counter every second. I remote desktop to the computer hosting this application and run the application. It starts up and displays the counter incrementing every second. If I disconnect the network cable between the two computers for 10 seconds and...

I've been installing VS2008 and getting all the updates. Microsoft's update site says I need "Update for .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB932471)" but I've tried 4 times now to get it and it always end with an error "Error Code: 0x66A". I've googled this and it seems I don't need this update if I have .NET 3.5 installed and according to add remove program it has been--though I don't know when. Perhaps 3.5 was installed with VS2008. Do I...

It runs perfectly on my pc, but it will not run on the users pcs, though the old version does. The error is: System.Security.SecurityException-Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version 2.0.0.0. Unable to connect to the...

I have a question for Beth Melton. Hello. This is Ray. I read an answer you graciously gave to another user about the constant popping up of "Windows Installer - Preparing to install". I cannot find anything to eliminate this headache and would be grateful for your insight and suggestions. Many people suggest running something like Windows Install Clearner (not sure that's the correct name), but on the ms website about it, we are...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
