How to detect if Auto-update is enabled

The topic pretty much says it all. I want to detect if the user has
auto-update enabled/disabled using c++ (inside Windows XP). Is there
an API call or a registry entry to check? Im having a hard time
finding information on this.

Thanks,
elitecodex

You can do it simply by checking the appropriate registry keys.
see this link for the key details.

Here is a nice code to detect utf-8 <http://in2.php.net/utf8_encode#39986> But, I couldn't find out the logic behind the script. If anyone knows that please share. Particularly I would like to detect other encodings too. So, I would like to know the logic. For example these texts are in TSCII encoding (for Tamil): Žì¸õ. þÐ ¾Á¢Æ¢ø ¯ûÇ Åâ. þ¨¾ ¯í¸Ç¡ø ÀÊì¸ ÓÊó¾¡ø, ¯í¸û ¯Ä¡Å¢Â¢ø ±ó¾...

Appologies if this has already been asked, but after scanning the web and this news group I could find no decent solution. We have a windows App that calls a webservice, using this bit of basic code. Dim objPreReq As PDCPreReq.PreReqs Dim objProxy As System.Net.WebProxy = System.Net.WebProxy.GetDefaultProxy objProxy.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials

Folks, I have a text file which contains some XML. In its XML header, it claims to be of UTF-8 encoding - however, it's really not, it's a ANSI / Windows-1252 / ISO-8859-1 encoding. Trouble is: when I deserialize objects from that file, all the German umlauts and other special characters get dropped, some even cause deserialization errors.

I want to be able to allow people to check their email from my PHP online application. Given only the users 1) email address, 2) username (if applicable) and 3) password - how can I auto detect a remote IMAP/POP3 server so that I can connect and fetch mail for the user. (Ultimately, I don't want users to have to know what the IMAP/POP3 server name / port is .... I would like to auto-detect all of that). At first I thought I could use...

I'm doing the final year project that related to the SNMP. I need to find the solution for the IP auto detection in C#. When I run the main project, the program can automatically detect the IP for the agent and retrieve it's MIB, so that the user do not need to enter the IP address of the agent. Beside that, I also look for the solution that can detect the nodes that had switch on or switch off in C# coding. Wish can get the solution for these...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
