I have a project that references a web service. How do I change which
web service it references when I move from dev to qat to production?
I have been changing path to the web service in dev to point to my qat
service, building the project and coping it to qat. Then changing the
path back for dev. Then doing the same thing to get to production
from qat. I must be missing something her????
Thanks

Hi,
We have a multiple-project solution in VS.NET 2003, including a single web
service. A couple of projects in the solution have references to this web
service and everything was working OK until we added some methods and changed
the signatures for some existing methods on the service. We changed the
version number of the service assembly to reflect the update.
We did an update on the existing references within Visual Studio, which...

I am going to be writing a web service in Visual Basic .NET internally for
my company. This web service is going to be setup to send various kinds of
messages to the internet since the main production servers currently reside
in the DMZ. The main production servers are in the DMZ and are behind a
firewall so they are not able to send messages externally to the internet.
This internal Visual Basic.NET web service will be calling various...

I have to create a image web service that when it receives an imageid
parameter it will return a gif image from a file that has been stored on the
server.
The client will be an asp.net web page that calls the web service to render
a vertical strip of images.
After doing some research I am unable to find some vb.net code that can
assist in what I want to achieve.
The closest thing I found was

Howdy,
I wrote a web service in .Net for my customer. My customer has another
vendor who now has to consume it but they are not using Visual Studio. Most
of their pages are jsp, and they said they need to consume this web service
using HTTP. The developer's IDE is Notepad. Yeah, weird I know.
How is this done? I guess if I can get it to run ASP, IDE independant, that
should make them happy. Any references you can point me to?

Background:
I am building a Windows enterprise application that has separate assemblies
for UI, business logic/rules, and data access (i.e. typical N-tier
architecture). Many of the assemblies reference a "name and address web
service," which gives me validation lists for name honorifics (e.g. Dr, Mr,
Miss, Mrs), name suffixes (e.g. Sr, Jr, III), and City/State/ZIP combos. The
same name and address web service also can save and retrieve...

I have a web app that is referencing several web services. When I make a change to a web service (add, modify a method), I have to 'Add Web Reference' for the changes to take affect. If I do 'Update web reference' the web app does not see the web service changes.
The web services are on the same box as I'm developing on, the .wsdl files are pointing to the correct location, but the changes aren't happening unless I do 'Add Web Reference'.

Hi John,
Hopefully this post will find its way back to you - or perhaps be answered
by someone else. As I mentioned in my last post on the earlier portion of
this thread, changing the serialization settings for the build handled the
initial slows we encountered when invoking the web service.
Since that time, we ported the original VB.net code over to C# - this was
done to make it cleaner easier to include the project in the rest of...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
