Listbox filled from JS doesn't maintain viewstate?

as the subject reads...

if you fill an asp.net listbox with items from javascript
and then submit the form, even if the listbox's
enableviewstate is set to true, it will not retain the
items inserted from the javascript...It will maintain any
items inserted on the server side...

Is this normal?

Hi all, I have a listBox which is filled with data if not isPostBack. Then on client side, one more item is added to the listBox( using New Option in JavaScript). Then on a server button click event, I want to retrieve the newly added item. But it's not there. EnableViewState has been set to true. I know if I add listItem on the server, it will keep the viewState. But I want to do it on the client side. Did I do something wrong?

I am having a terrible time getting anything useful out of a listbox on my web form. I am populating it with the results from Postcode lookup software, and it is showing the results fine. What I want to do is to allow the user to click on the row that corresponds to the correct address, and have the code behind populate the form's Address1, Address2 etc. controls with the relevant data items. I put the code for this into the...

I have a ListBox webcontrol on an aspx page. Items are added to the ListBox using client-side code. However, when the page is posted back the items are missing/not available. (It is like the page does not know the items were added client-side.) TIA, Val

Help! I have two ListBox controls on my web form. The first one gets populated on entry with values from the DB. I then use JavaScript to copy options from this ListBox to my second one. (I have also tried changing the second ListBox to an HtmlSelect control) using bog standard JavaScript code like so where "used" is the name of my <select> control: used.options = new Option(name, typeId); This all works fine and I can move across...

DropDown lists and Listboxes do not appear in the list of controls and values passed back to the server on PostBack in Request.Form object. Can someone confirm this to be correct and possibly answer why ? The impact of this is that values added via javascript will never make it back to the server side code unless one does some jiggery pokery with hidden fields etc. If this is true, then I would like to understand the reason behind the...

Hi, everybody. I have this problem. When I put a <asp:ListBox on a web page and populate the data in the page Page_Load event the ViewState for the control is saved and loaded (after postback) correctly. In other words the Items property of the ListBox is populated from the ViewState after the postback. However if I put this ListBox inside a UserControl, expose the Items list, and populate it with the data in the same manner (in the page...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
