commercial software based on.net

Power Quest's Drive Image 7 uses the .NET Framework. I
don't own it, so I don't no to what extent it's used. I
am also curious to learn about other .NET based
commercial software in exitstance. Our company is
currently in development of some commercial .NET
software, but it's still a few months away.

Hello Just like everyone else, I am excited about how easily one can create Windows applications with the .NET platform, but for shareware, I have some serious reservations 1. Your code can be easily decompiled. This would make it very difficult to implement any sort of license restrictions on your app, because anything you write can be easily viewed and cracked. This also removes any privacy for your intellectual property 2. Jim...

Hello Quake3 has been GPL released by ID. So I could use md3 and md2 models for free? Not the art just the basic C++ model code. And how about using md3 models in a commercial game? Is that possible with the GPL or not? THANKS and regards Michael

I've read the MySQL licensing material and what I've found online, but I'm still unclear about when I have to pay MySQL for a license. Scenario: I've created an application that stores some data in MySQL 5.0 (InnoDB table types). It connects to MySQL 5.0 via MyODBC. 1.) If I include MySQL 5.0 and MyODBC in the installer, do I have to buy a separate MySQL license for every copy of the installer I sell? 2.) If I include MySQL 5.0 and...

Can anyone point me to examples of commercial software packages (i.e. sold through VARs or retail channels) that were programmed in VB.net? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if I can ask the question in this forum - please let me know if it is better elsewhere. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced good copy protection program that will protect software on either a machine only or network range basis?? I have just found Shareguard that looks reasonably priced. My applications are for vertical market and are not likely to be cracked, BUT users are likely to pass working versions around if not...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
