Hi, I use a handy little Javascript Flash detection script on a number
of sites (copied below). Usually works great, but I just started
trying Firefox and it's not working. A few browsers are referenced in
the script so I presume that Firefox needs to be added somewhere --
does anyone know how I could update this to be supported by Firefox?

I'm creating an advertisement system that will have several Flash animations
to be displayed. However, I'm looking for a way to check if the visitor's
browser supports displaying Flash. The purpose is to be able to
programmatically display a regular GIF version of the advertisement instead
if the browser does not support Flash. I know that several other sites have
this functionality, but is it something that ASP.NET can take...

Easy. I assume you want to add it to a Windows Form.
Just add the "Shockwave Flash Object" to you toolbox and
drag it onto a new form. This will then allow you to
embed the Flash Active-X control as any other control on
a Windows form. You can then set the SWF filename via
code or the editor.
Note however that this assumes that the user has Flash
installed on their machines. I don't think you can
legally redistribute the Flash OCX.

I'm trying to use a Shockwave Flash file as is except for a line of
text that it displays. I'd like to hide that line of text, and so I
tried to create a black mask to do it. However, I can't move the mask
over the text.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of using the Flash component on my
screensaver application?
The basic animation that the screensaver will include can be done either
with Flash or by writing code. But with the Flash control, I can easily add
much more fancy animation. But I don't know what disadvantages (in terms of
user installation, PC requirements during installation, etc) may arise from
using this Flash component.

I have a webpage that has two flash animations running. I also have a
javascript script running that rotates 3 images and fades them in and
out. To do the fading and rotating in javascript I am using the
setInterval function, like this:
setInterval(function () {imageFade()},10);
This works fine in Firefox, but in IE 7, the flash animations slow
down a lot, and the javascript fading/rotation slows down some.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
