VS 2005 corrupting "source" view code?

I've been working with my project for a while now (a few months), then today
it I opened up one of my pages (web app) and got the following:

"Can not switch to Design view because of errors in the page. Please
correct all errors labeled 'Can not switch:' in the Error List and try
again."

The errors are a bunch of :

"Error 1 Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional): This name contains uppercase
characters, which is not allowed. ...."

and

"Error 2 Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional): Element 'html' is missing
required attribute 'xmlns'. ..."

I haven't touch this page in several weeks and the project has been
compiling just fine -- then suddenly I open this page today and viola, I get
all these source errors?? And the problem gets worse, any page that I know
open and click on "Source" will started to generate these errors?? What the
heck is going on?

When I create in Designer a new button on my Form it is automatically named e.g. "button1". When I doubleclick on it I am directed to the Form.cs where the following procedure is automatcially generated: private void button1_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) { } To improve readability I want to rename now "button1" to "but_change_set".

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
