POP3 Email Retrieval and supporting "Secure Password Authenticatio

I'm trying to retrieve emails via the POP3 protocol from a Windows 2003 POP3
Server.

I get a positive response from the server when sending all the commands
until the "PASS" command. When I send the PASS command i get a negative
response from the server. I've tried turning "Secure Password
Authentication" on and off on the server but I stilll get the same response
"-ERR Logon Failure" from the server.

My code is very simple and just passes the PASS command with the password in
plain text to the server.

I am able to successfully retrieve emails from the server using Outlook but
only if i use the "Secure Password Authentaction" in outlook.

My question is: How can i implement the "Secure Password Authentication"
protocol in my .NET code?? I've read alot about the APOP and AUTH commands.
I have found out that APOP is not SPA but i'm not sure about the AUTH command.
I am versed in encryption and hashing, my problem is that I can't seem to
find any help on what "SPA" is and how to implement it...

Admittedly this is mostly because when i lookup SPA all i get is
advertising....

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

At this point I'm seriously considering just implementing everything i can
find until i hit on the right one.. LOL..

Thanx! :o)

1. Is there anyway to preload password? Text attribute doesn't work <asp:TextBox ID="Pass" TextMode="Password" Runat="server" Text="Hello"> 2. In the same form, if other elements such as <asp:dropdownlist...> is using AutoPostBack="true". When the form posts back to itself, the password textbox is cleared??? is there anyway to maintain the password during autopostback? Thanks..

Hi everyone, Does anyone know if there is a problem populating a system.web.ui.htmlcontrols.htmlinputtext control when the control's type is set to "password?" I am attempting to retreive a member's record from a database and populate the control with the member's password. Unfortunately, if the control declared on the .aspx side is as follows: <input type="password" id="txtPassword" runat="server"/>

Right now, if you use the CreateUserWizard for ASP.NET 2.0 a valid password is this: Password length minimum: 7. Non-alphanumeric characters required: 1. How do I change it so that a valid password does NOT require a non-alphanumeric character? Thanks!

My setup: Mac OS 10.4.4; mysql 4.x ... everything was installed and working fine for some time. Today, I added drupal to my system and had to create a new database in mysql -- now I am having some problems. I will outline the problem, what I have tried to do to fix it, and what I think caused it. Hope you can help and I am sorry this is long. The problem: I can't login to mysql anymore with the "root" username (which is where I have all...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
