Just want to share my experience on XML-RPC.
We were working on a messaging middleware. We were using XML-RPC as
communication protocol amoing client apps and server. Client could be
written by Java, C/C++, VB, Delphi on both Windows or Unix platforms.
Seams like XML-RPC( similiar to SOAP as you know) was a good choice
for us. But while the project went on, I encountered some critical
problems:

Hi.
I want to be able to create a persistent connection between an XML-RPC
client and server... i.e. I want to be able to login once, carry
out a number of calls and then logout rather than send login info for
every call.
Is there a way to do this with the xml-rpc code in the standard library?

I'm put on building a system in Python and I haven't used either webservices,
SOAP or Python so I'm a bit lost.
This system will require callback functions, should I use Python thru Apache
for this or build my own listening daemon? Use module for Apache or do I make
some kind of CGI script in Python?
Where do I start? What lib do I use for XML? SOAP? Webservices?
Is there any nice project/tutorial for this so I can give it a taste...

I understand how an XML formatted SOAP message is used to request
items from a web service and how the XML formatted SOAP response is
used. I am still missing the big picture, however.
When is this used?
For example, let's say that I have three systems.
An Oracle system, SQL Server 2000 system and a DB2 legacy system.

I have followed

corba application. When i run the orb, server and client on the same
machine it works fine.
When i follow this guide

to run the orb and server on one machine and the client on another
machine it doesn't work.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
